Well, the forecast for my long awaited half this weekend is looking more bleak. Temps should be good, 40s or 50s, but the chance of rain is up from 20% to 40%. I think every time I've looked the chance of rain is climbing. And I really hope the wind stays away. I know I can't change the weather, so I need to just chill.
I have a friend that I work out with a few days a week in the evenings. She wanted to bet back into running and do a race with me so we signed up for one in May. Well now she is bailing on me almost every time we set up a time to run. Something always comes up. She hasn't signed up for the race yet either... I'm getting annoyed. I feel bad though because she is always thanking me for pushing her and motivating her but I am just getting sick of getting bailed on. I plan on running in the evening with her, but then she bails and it's hard for me to motivate myself to get out there alone at that time. If I run alone I prefer to do it first thing in the AM, I have more energy. I've mentioned all this to her before and she did get better for awhile but now is right back to where she was before. Now this race is coming up and I'm signed up alone for it which was not the plan. I just wish people would do what they say they are going to do!

First, does anyone have any HRM recs? I'd like to stay at or under $50 if possible. I'm assuming chest strap ones are better?

I'm kind of new to working out (at least on a continuous basis, where I don't work out for 2 weeks and quit!). I feel like I'm finally in the mindset where I'm not going to quit this time, I'm tire of the way I look and I finally have the willpower to do something about it. I'm not terribly overweight, I'd like to maybe lose 7-10 pounds, and just tighten my body up a bit. I still have a lot of the baby tummy and butt, I am 5'2 and I weigh about 138 right now.

I just started the insanity program, so I do feel like a HRM would be important for me to have, since my first workout with it, I really did feel like I overdid it. I have no clue where my MHR is.

If I get a HRM, and let's say I burn 500 calories during a WO, how important is it that I eat those calories back? I guess this is all really confusing to me. Wouldn't I want to just continue to eat the way I'm eating now to start to lose weight? If I burn 500 and I eat 500, wouldn't I just be maintaining the weight I'm at? I just don't understand how this all works - can someone please help clear this up for me?

Thanks - as a newbie to working out you've all been a huge help to me

When I tried on shoes Saturday, the ones I bought were a bit snug - they were 9s. So I said, let me try a 9.5. They were huge! So the sales guy showed me a way to lace my shoe to loosen the toe box of the 9 which worked. They were snug on my treadmill run Monday, but not too tight, so I thought, "yeah, that will work!"

So yesterday, I was getting ready to go out on my run. I happened to pull the tongue of the shoe up and noticed that my new shoes are a size EIGHT. EIGHT!!!! So I pulled out the box, they said 9, but they were also a men's box!

Goodness. I know shoes get mixed up in boxes and such...I'm not mad or anything. I'm just laughing at myself and how I didn't notice before and how such a huge gap between "9" and 9.5 on Saturday didn't make me think twice. So I'm going to return them today and hopefully have some awesomely-fitting shoes for my run this afternoon.

Does your skin hold the dimple after the fat is gone? Am I deluding myself and there was more fat than it seemed? I heard once that you never lose celuite, but assumed that was crap. Anyone know?

I am in my third week of crossfit and I LOVE it! It was suggested by one of my coaches that I eat paleo so I started that about a week and a half ago. I'm really struggling with it. I don't know if it's because it's so restrictive or if I'm just withdrawling from sugar/carbs or what. Obviously I want to get stronger and improve my fitness but I'm not doing crossfit to become a competative lifter- I just love the workout and the people. My question is- how important do you think a paleo diet is to your success at crossfit? Do you eat that way? If not, what's your diet like? Thanks for any help!

I've been teaching group fitness for several years but never had to count the music.
I have been asked to learn a class format where I have to teach on the 32 count (leading warm up, giving safety cues & explaining muscles used). Does any one have tips on learning how to teach on the 32 count? I never did dance so I have to focus a lot on counting. Any tips on learning this or is it just practice....

My body type is ectomorph. I weigh about 135 but wear anywhere from a 2-6 (usually either a 2 or 4) in jeans. I've always heard and read that running is the perfect exercise because it works so many muscles at the same time. I recently read that it can make you skinny fat, which IMO I am, and I'd like to find something to help all of the jiggle. I also have diastasis recti so I think my stomach is pretty much toast anyway. I don't see how running would make/increase the skinny fat problem, but figured you ladies would have a better idea. I have access to a free gym at our church (it's actually a really nice gym, comparable to the YMCA we left) but there's no childcare so I could go after the kids to go bed but would lose motivation for that. I was thinking that I could possibly get up early and run around our subdivision before DH and the kids get up.

Also what makes a good shoe for running. We don't have a huge budget, it would have to be less than $100, but the lower the better (DH would love if I found something for $20, is that possible).

Generally my migraines are hormonal, but I woke up today with an awful one (total wrong time of the month) and my normal regimen to get rid of it isn't working. Usually, some aspirin and coffee along with getting some food in my stomach works, but not today. I'm stuck at work and seriously want to just crawl in a hole and die right now. Any other things that work for you when the normal stuff doesn't work? Unfortunately, I nap isn't an option, which is what I think I really need.

Told me to take aleeve, do lots of stretching, and get fit for shoes. He said from my shoes I most likely overpronate. He said to scale back the running- like go back to week 2 of C25K. I think I'll take a full week off first though! I'm on my feet all day at work so its hard to rest! Anyone deal with this? Should I even try to keep running? I really like it, but if this is how I'm starting I fear for the future!

Now I just had breakfest which gave me a total of 280 calories, and feel like I do not eat again for a while. What if at the end of the night I have not had all my calories ( I read other post and most say to eat all allowed calories) and I am just not hungry to eat anymore? Then what?
