Have you ever run into any celebs? If so, who?
Re: poll--celebs
We tailgated with Lucas Black at and Alabama game in 2000 I think...it was at Legion Field.
He's been in a bunch of movies including The War (1994), Sling Blade (1996), Friday Night Lights, Jarhead, and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift
I met Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey in New York several years ago (as well as the whole Simpson crew). And the whole GMA crew after a studio filming.
Last year in LA, I ran into Drew Lachey at Nordstrom, Tori Spelling at a restaurant, and Lisa Rhinna's husband Harry Hamlin at another restaurant.
Not necessarily a celeb, but I ran into Don Siegelman two days ago in downtown Homewood....if I was him, I wouldn't want to show my face in Alabama!
I met Charles Barkley at Tiki Bob's Cantina in 2002. I hung out with Better Than Ezra after one of their shows in 2002.
2002 was my bar/club hopping year.
I met Lucas Black when I was in college when I was home for the holidays...he is actually from really near where I am and he came to the mall to do some shopping and I was working one Saturday night and had to wait on him...and it honestly took me a minute to figure out who he was lol...he just looked familiar but the lady who was working with me knew him and he was really nice.
I also met the band 3 Doors Down in Starkville one night. My college roomate was dating a guy from Miss. State and we had went to see him one weekend, watched them play, and then met them because her boyfriend knew one of the band members from high school.
OJ Simpson...yep, not particularly proud of that encounter...LOL...it was in the Bahamas
Tyler Florence from the Food Network
Bill Clinton...I was an intern at Books-A-Million, and we had a book-signing with him in Little Rock. I was the one who had to hand him the books to sign.
Nicholas Sparks...met him at a book-signing here in B'ham
Jonathan Brandis...we ran into him at SeaWorld years ago
My BFF and I met the cast of Real World - Paris at some club/bar in Seattle a few years ago.
Robert flew to LA and Ashley Simpson was on the plane with him. She went back to coach to visit her band members and knocked his elbow, she never apologized
Not really a celebrity but I went to HS with Lisa Blank from Prinze Lorenzo Bachelor. She was pretty stuck up way back then.
....and the guy Melissa Joan Hart married, his last name is Wilkerson, is the son of a two people I went to high school with in Enterprise, Alabama way back a long time ago. Even so, I never met Kevin Bacon.
Oh.. my DH's band also used to play at the same bar in Statesboro, Ga. as Jennifer Nettles from Sugarland. He hung out with her a few times because she was the friend of a friend... of course that was years ago before she got famous.
DH also hung out with Collective Soul a couple times. A guy in DH's band was cousins with one of the Collective Soul guys... apparently they went out to a nice sushi place and then a strip club afterwards. haha. I don't think DH was even 21 at the time.
Oh - the Melissa Joan Hart thing - a friend of mine (lydia - you met Lisa) I think went to HS w/ her husband or some crazy link to her too!
and I used to work with Kelly Albert- and her husband is Jason Albert who ended up making the band Heartland.
The only one I've actually met is Ludacris. He tried to feel me up during a pic we took after his concert he gave at Auburn. My friend was on UPC and got us backstage. Such a small guy.
I'm still mad I didn't speak to Bernie Williams (baseball player) when he was on my flight from NYC back to Birmingham once. I was trying to exercise some restraint.
I saw Sigourney Weaver when I was working at the Animal Kingdom. That same summer I saw the guy who played Chewbacca in 'Star Wars' and almost ran him over when the cart I was pushing slipped out of my hands. Oops. And I saw Anthony Anderson at the ATL airport in June.
Hmm..I met a famous baseball player when I was little, Dante Caulpepper (pro football player from my hometown in FL), Angela Basset, a guy from Murphy Brown (he and Angela Basset were the narrators for a Christmas program I sang in at Disney one year), saw Jay-Z at a mall in Atlanta aaaand met Pink after a the concert when she opened for NSync. We 'talked' to Joey Fattone on the phone.
I probably spelled half of those names wrong. Oh well. haha
In 2005, we went to the pro tennis tournament in Miami and saw Maria Sharapova practice up close. When she was done she signed a few autographs but not many-but her coach let me have one of her practice balls. A day later we saw Roger Federer practice. When he was done he came up to the fence and signed autographs for a long time. My DH got my hat signed by having a long arm as he reached out to Roger over other people's heads. When I got it back, I squealed like a little girl...lol. I love Roger
(For non tennis people he was the #1 player in the world at the time , and only recently lost that ranking) The hat he signed was one from my university and I keep it out on display
We saw some other players too close up-Mario Ancic watching his sister play juniors, and David Nalbandian on a very small court. DH also told me I brushed by a doubles team that is famous but I didn't see them, lol.
DH and I shook President elect Obama's hand at the rally at UAB a year ago. He made eye contact with me and said 'thank you' . I was so surprised that he spoke to me, I blurted out, "Thank YOU, Barack!" as if we were on a first name basis. LOL. Then I turned around and jumped up and down and squealed like a little girl. I think I knew I just met the next President
(and apparently that is my inner 15 year old reaction to meeting exciting people! Haha!)
Also at a resort in Florida DH and I saw Mo Rocca. (he used to be on the Daily Show, does comedy stuff on TV sometimes, and was on the those silly "I love the...80's" etc specials on VH1). Only Mo Rocca looks like Mo Rocca so we're sure it was him.
ha ha- I grew up and graduated with Mark Wilkerson who is now married to Melissa Joan Hart. ?I have pictures of us in 8th grade looking very stylish. ?lol ?His mom was also my dance teacher for many years. ?:)
I met Carlos Santana the morning after his concert in Barcelona, Spain back in 2000. ?He invited me to come sit with him in the airport and chat!! ?I have a pic of us together too.
I've met lots of older bands since my hubby plays with them- The Temptations, The Four Tops, The O'Jays, Wayne Newton, etc. ?I also met Ruben Studdard and all of his family several times when DH was on tour with him.
?
Darius Rucker aka "Hootie" and the blowfish - at the airport on our honeymoon!
Bill Clinton - years ago at a restaurant in Miami. all of these men in darks suits and shades swarmed the place and then he came strolling in smiling and shook my hand. i felt so stupid because i didn't even realize who he was until later!!!
George Strait - my mom's old best friend used to stalk him when he was in town. he gave me a hug and signed my sheet music though!
Dixie Carter (from Designing Women) winked at me at a work event. she is amazing!
Stephanie's old bands list made me remember I met Chubby Checker in '05. I was doing contract PR/media work for Panoply and had to stand with him while he did a meet & greet. I was just standing there shooting the breeze with him and he gave me a hug. I asked him how he liked Huntsville so far and he said "better now that you're here." Omg. Very nice man but creepy.
I look kind of possessed but I was around three months pregnant and felt like shiz.
