naming this child
I never realized it was going to be so hard giving this girl a name. We agreed more on boy names. I like unique names and he likes very common names. We are clashing big time. FINALLY we have narrowed it down somewhat. Here are our options in order:
1. Jocelyn Ava
2. Harper ______ ( I like Faith but he doesn't). He loves Ava but doesn't think it flows good with Harper.
Just to let you know my style my favorite girl names he didn't like were Zoe, Haisley, Piper, Elle, Selah.
He only came up with Amber, Nicole (my name....not going to happen), and I think Jacquline (his moms name).
So any other names are MUCH appreciated. I have read those stupid baby name books till my eyes crossed.

Well he did let me pick Jocelyn and he picked Ava but he just wouldn't agree on Zoe or Haisley which were my favorites.
I love alot of those names!! Another major problem is we have SO many freinds with kids. We are trying to avoid naming them the same as those children. It gets to be very hard.

I think those are all beautiful names you have picked out. My favorite names for girls are old fashioned names. I hope you and you're DH come to a happy medium soon.
Oh, I just thought of another one. I went to a friends' graduation party last weekend and met her little neice named Aislyn. I thought that was so pretty!
My DH and I had such a hard time naming our second daughter that I thought that we would never agree. In fact, we didn't decide on her name for sure until right after she was born. Most people thought we just weren't tellling.
I really liked Cecilia, it was my first pick, but DH didn't like it at all. Our oldest is named Ava Catherine and we finally decided on Mia Abigail for our second.
i was going to suggest doing that as well.

Harper is my maiden name. I'll probably use it for a middle name with one of my children.
I really like Jocelyn, Elle, and Zoe.
My favorite baby name at the moment is Robin. I don't care that I got it off of General Hospital, I think it's pretty and not commonly used these days. I also like Claire, Sabrina, and Emily.
Have you thought about using a grandmother's name? My grandmother's names are Lila and Jewell. They aren't really uncommon, but they aren't really popular for baby naming. It would be like having a family name and something unique.
I like Ava Harper together. I am just not sure I want Ava for her first name. It seems to be a common name these days so I don't want her to get to school and have 2-3 other Ava's in her class. You know? I don't know anyone named Harper.
I know I am over analyzing this. Its just this is a permanant thing she will have to deal with the rest of her life. I get scared when I think about it
I know you don't want to use your name, but I like Harper Nicole together.
There are also websites if you're tired of looking in the actual books.......
What about any family names?!!?!? Like any maiden names of women in the family, last names, middle names that are unique. Ask both sides of the families for a list of names. Doesn't mean you have to use them. That's one thing we are going to do b/f we decide for sure (when we get to this point in life, ha.)

Do you like Ava? That is one of my favs! Ava Nicole actually sounds really good...and it would be sweet seeing that it's your name, but wouldn't be her first... What do you think?
I like Elle too. Or Ella.
Some others I really like are Mia and Sophia.
I think Ava Nicole is pretty but I don't want to use it. I never liked Nicole growing up. I know that sounds stupid but I want something new.
I love Elle but he won't agree to that. My best friend just named her baby Ellie so I don't want to get too close to that.
When I thought this child was a boy it was so much easier
I think I like Ava more than Eva.
Good idea though.
I also like Leilani. I thought it was super cute and its Hawaiian. We got pg in Hawaii. DH hated it......he stumps me everytime.

I thought the same thing. Ava Harper sounds really nice.
dh and i have this exact problem, which is why i've started writing down all of my name ideas. we're not even think of having kids for a while now, but i know it's going to take more than 9 mos for us - lol.
well both dh and i are of hispanic heritage, so most of the names i like have a hispanic feel/sound (to flow with our last name). but some of my favs are:

oddly enough we are having a hard time with boy names.
I have had names wrote down for a long time b/c I knew it would be a hard decision.
I think Jocelyn is a pretty name and nobody I know personally has that name.

well you've still got some time Nicole so don't stress. Take a piece of paper in your purse and as you are out and about and you see/hear names and like one then jot it down. Run it by DH and go from there. Ask him to do the same, if yall haven't done this already.
