Cramps

Should I be worried?

They just feel like regular period cramps but my tummy feels kinda hard. Maybe they are BH, I haven't had any BH contractions so I don't really know what to expect.

She's still moving regularly though.

What do you think?

TIA ladies

Re: Cramps

  • Are they happening regularly? It kind of sounds like the beginning to contractions to me. Braxton Hicks should just be a tightening of the belly. I would drink some water and rest and see if they increase or decrease and if they increase or stay the same maybe call your doctor. Also, while pregnant, sometimes infections like a UTI can cause cramping instead of regular UTI symptoms.

  • This is the first time it has happened. And I just had my follow up yesterday and they checked everything so I don't think its a UTI. I will rest and if anything changes I'll call my doctor.

Crap I'm not ready for this. Lol
  • I thought that you had just had an appointment so I was thinking the UTI wouldbe less llikely. Hope that resting will help and you won't have to worry about it!

  • Thank you wiggy :)
  • Those sound like real contractions to me too. It can happen if you're dehydrated, so make sure you're drinking lots of water. If they keep up start timing them so you know if there's a pattern.

  • I'm on my phone so I can't see your ticker if you have one. I had cramping on and off my whole pregnancy. Around 26 weeks, they got worse and I spent a night in L and D, but nothing was really happening. Around 37 weeks, they got even worse and fairly regular and my water still didn't break for almost 2 more weeks. Definitely rest, drink water, and call your dr. if you're concerned.

I am 36 weeks pregnant tomorrow. I've never had this happen to me but they seem to have calmed down a bit. I just don't want to spend the day in L&D if it's not happening yet.

    Thank you @madeline10L @waterfall213 and @Chelsiver.
  • I've had BH and cramps, and they are pretty different to me. The BH just makes my stomach really tight but no discomfort or pain.

The cramps feel exactly like period cramps with no tightening but they've been kind of sparse so I haven't been too worried. I have no advice, other than what the other ladies already said that they don't sound like BH to me, but I can relate!

  • I've had the same cramps. They always go away after a little bit though. Definitely try to relax, and keep us updated!

  • I agree w/ PPs.  Rest and drink lots of water.  I got crampy towards the end of my pregnancy, but with your belly tightening, it may be more than discomfort.  If they become timeable or get stronger, I would go in.

  • have been resting since then and drinking water. They seem to have calmed down a bit but if anything changes I'll go in and update @sgautschi to update you ladies.

Thanks for all the great advice :-)
