Anybody else eat some "good luck" today?

In this economy we need all the luck we can get, so we ate black-eyed peas and collard greens, lol!

My mom made a huge lunch of pork roast....greens...and black eyed peas!  I don't really care for the greens or peas...so I just ate roast and potatoes....but my hubby ate a bunch.  Maybe he ate enough for the both of us..lol!

nope...the IL's didn't have any. i never ever eat the greens anyhow..and I always eat 3 peas, don't like those either, but I can force them down. haha

looks like we'll just have to make our own luck this year!

I had my chance to go to my parents and eat that stuff but we got busy hanging curtains and Wes really wanted to go out for dinner since we didn't get to for New Years Eve, so sadly no I didn't.  But I only eat the peas...I'm not a fan of greens.

Yep!  Well, not the collard greens.  FIL made a great meal - ham, black-eyed peas, potatoes, and salad.  I ate the beans for lunch and dinner!  mmm.... I love them!

Just fyi...last year, when we were in Auburn for NY Day, we put our own spin on the traditions and had spinach dip for money and black-eyed pea dip for luck.

We had the traditional blackeyed peas and hog jowl, I didn't bother with greens but we had some hoecake and fried okra and brocolli salad, maybe the salad can substitute for greens.

Nope. I hate both of those so I would have just tossed my cookies. I'll have to take my chances. Lol.

We had the same (collards and black eyed peas), but in a soup form in my blog. I just ate some leftovers, and it's even better. Maybe I'll have better luck since I'm still eating it.... will be for a while b/c we have  a TON.

Nah, I was out and about at lunchtime so I stopped through McD's, then I made some cowboy stew for supper last night...sooo yummy!

Sadly no we didn't eat any of the good luck foods.  However, we have decided that how you spend New Years Eve is how you spend the rest of the year and our NYE was fantastic!!!  So we are going to count that as trying to be lucky
