Bridal Shows?!?!

Since I'm not from Alabama, I wondered how many brides book their vendors from bridal shows?   I walked through one this weekend, and I was surprised how busy it was...

Re: Bridal Shows?!?!

  • Hey! I saw your ad in the OA News Bridal Tab this weekend! I was wondering if you were setting up at the show...

I went to both shows here in Auburn/Opelika and one in Dothan...the newspaper one and the radio one...we booked our harpist and our rental company from a show. I will admit that a big part of going was to win the free prizes. We already had our photographer booked well before I went to bridal shows though.

  • I never did because my planning and wedding date took place in 5 1/2 months and between shows.  I don't think it's a bad idea to do it while you have tons of vendors in one place if you already have basics like a venue and can narrow down a date with vendor availability.
  • I wondered if that was the case... Some people say the shows are great for business, and some say they never get anything from them.  Soooo... I thought I'd buy an ad instead of setting up and just do a walk through this year.

But yeaaaa that you saw my ad... That means at least 1 person beside me did!   Smile

  • We didn't do any shows and booked everyone based on recommendations.  Of course, that was mostly a function of distance! I've had friends attend shows in the B'ham area though and they sound pretty big.

I saw it, too!  Like Heather, I already had my photographer...but that had more to do with the date of my wedding in comparison to the bridal show. My photographer was at the OA News show as well as the person that was my 2nd choice.  If I hadn't already decided, then it would have been great to talk to the photographers in one setting rather than setting up several interviews just to discover I had no chemistry with a vendor!

I went for the prizes, too Yes

  • I pretty much had everything planned by the time I went to the bridal show here in B'ham.  I still went to pick up any cute ideas....and there are prizes...and free cake..lol!

  • At the one where I am from (in Florence), I booked my DJ and Florist. The rest of the stuff I already knew who I wanted to use. Most of my friends used people they found at a show! I know a girl that does photography on the side and she went a few weeks ago to one in Huntsville and got several bookings. It's worth some time I think!
