Desperately Seeking USPS Help, Contact, etc.

Girls, I don't know if any of you have any contacts with the post office in the Birmngham area, but if you do please let me know. Anyone even remotely near the area. I have had major issues with not getting my mail since we moved here last March, we're talking almost a year now. I have been to the Bluff Park, Homewood and Hoover Post Offices MULTIPLE times and have filled out forms both online and in all of these offices. I have been assured each time they know the problem and have corrected it and I am still not getting mail. I have talked with the folks in NC and it doesn't even have anything to do with them. We're talking AL Power Bill, AL Sewer Bill, my AmEx rebate, my government information, etc. So those bills were never even generated or sent or anything in NC. At first they thought this was because of the move and then because of my name change from maiden to married, and it's obvious they have no clue. The Water/Sewer folks have advised that it's being returned and marked as "moved" which is completely ridiculous!!!! Everytime I ask to speak with the PostMaster himself he is NEVER there and NEVER returns my messages. I am getting highly pissed off at this. I think 10 months is long enough to figure out why they are returning my power and sewer bill when it is so obvious I am living here and using the power and water.

Re: Desperately Seeking USPS Help, Contact, etc.

  • and PS - I have been absolutely PATIENT and kind and understanding, etc. have never been ugly or remotely acted ticked off to anyone at any station or on the phone. Am I going to have to pitch a fit for this and any tips on what to do or say?
  • I would start pitching a fit! Are you changing the address directly with your bill companys, water dept, ect and they are marking them moved? I would go down there since the post master doesn't return phone calls. I would stay there until he or she is in. 10 months is long enough to figure out what they need to do. Maybe set up a P.O. Box if it continues.

  • Yes, everyone has my correct address at the company. So it's not an issue of that or things being forwarded. There is one item that has to stay in my maiden name, but it can't just be an issue of that because things with my married name are not making it either.  I have spent hours waiting there and on the phone and I always "just missed" the PostMaster. But of course I get mail from the 5 five people who lived here before me AND every once in a while for my FIL!!! I have no idea why I would get anything for my FIL, he and DH don't even have the same name. Go figure.... :(
  • HMM, It sounds like you need to take a day and go and sit at the P.O.  The morning, right after they open, is the best time to find the postmaster.  Also, I might ask neighbors or anyone else in the area if there having issues getting there mail, or if they've mistakenly gotten yours and tossed it out.  10 months is far to long for this to continue happening, I think it's time and rightfully warranted for you to throw a fit.  It sounds like it's the mail carrier in your area, just not doing his/her job.

I'm sorry that your going through all this. I know how frustrating it is dealing with the post office.

  • I agree w/pps.  Also another thought, if you're able, make all your bills done paperless so you receive them online and pay for them online.  I don't think I get a bill in the mail at all.  This avoids situations like this and I believe in them 100% as I used to implement/install these types of products.

I would definitely go down there and just sit and wait til you can speak with the postmaster that is in YOUR area.

I hope that you can get it worked out.  Good luck!!!
