Favorite Thing About AL

What's yours? I need some encouragement after being so discouraged about the post office problem.

I have two, all of the great restaurants and the view of Bham lights at night!

Re: Favorite Thing About AL

  • College football, passing the Space & Rocket Center, leaves changing in the fall, Monte Sano Mountain, little old men (and sometimes women) and their deep southern accents.

  • I love:

    1. the variety of local restaurants here in Birmingham.

    2. That there are still (of course) small towns with "strips" a block or two long.

    3. sweet little bakery shops.

    4. That there is still so much history preserved (homes, neighborhoods, furniture)

    5. Wide open fields.

    6. Cow pastures.  Seeing the cows graze makes me think I should remember to relax and spend some time doing nothing but enjoying the sun.

    7.  The gorgeous drive from Huntsville to Birmingham.

    8. College team spirit.

    9. Open spaces throughout the city and buildings aren't piled up on top of one another.

    10. Foliage in the Fall.  Flowers in Spring and Summer.

    11. Not the excessive, but the sweet southern accents I hear.

    12. Lots of kind people.

    13. Outdoor shopping centers/malls.

  • ALABAMA/AUBURN rivals, being a southerner, accents, down town squares, fairs, flea markets, high school football games, outside concerts, first fridays in florence, the southern food, dreamland in tuscaloosa, I could go on and on.
