I don't know if anyone has been to the movies lately, but the prices are getting ridiculous.
DH and I went to see Revolutionary Road sunday night, and it costs us about $20 for BOTH of us! We didn't get any popcorn or coke either! It's sad in this economy how they keep increasing prices on everything and we can barely afford them. I think DH and I are going to stick with renting movies for awhile.
Rant over...
Siggy coming soon....
Re: Movies
Totally agree! It is even high to go to a matinee now! We went last Monday and it was 14 dollars just for the matinee...I remember when you could go at night for that price. It just keeps getting higher and higher now. Up here in H'ville prices are 9 dollars a person. Craziness.
And I also wonder how teenagers do it? It would cost 50 dollars for a date these days. Wow...what will it be when when our kids start dating??
We are huge fans of the dollar theater in Hoover. I would say we end up at the movies 3-4 times a month there. We'd actually rather go there than rent.
Sure, you wait a little longer to see the movie, but for $1?? Can't beat it.
Where is this at in Hoover?? That would be a much better way than spending a million dollars at the Rave :P
Yeah, it is very expensive! Last time FIL was with us so DH got a senior combo. So much cheaper! LOL!
it's the Carmike 10 on Lorna Road over by bumpers.
This is the exact reason why i'm so glad i have ties to the b'ham movie theaters and don't have to pay at any of them. However, i will say it's not the theaters fault the prices keep going up. when i worked there we wouldn't know it was happening until we got the new prices in the mail the wednesday before it happened. It sucks because the theater does not make much money off ticket sales and concession is what keeps them open
Blog!
Sex and the City is the last movie I saw in the theatre and b/f that I can't even recall. DH has never even taken me to see a movie in the theatres. Funny huh?
We do Blockbuster online - one comes in the mail, then you return it to the store and rent another for free. We are great about this.
And I'm fine if I don't go to the theatre, but it's been so long that I asked for our anny if we could go to a nice dinner out, to the movies and eat our cake. he he We are saving for the trip to Italy - that is really our gift to one another for anny and Val Day.
I am a AAA member but I always forget about the discounts. Now that we have an office nearby I need to take advantage.
Yup, the Carmike 10 on Lorna Road.
One tip - if you go to a matinee on the weekend, the place will be next to empty. It tends to get more crowded at night, but during the days? There's barely anyone there.
