Baby name "Jackson"

It's been my favorite baby name for a boy and it hit me how popular the it is!  Today my coworker told me that his son's name is Jackson and that there are 4 Jackson's in his son's daycare class.  Then I realized that I know about 5 other couples who have named their boys this, not including the Nesties who also have sons with the name, lol.  Darn the coolness of the name!  My yet-to-be-conceived baby boy might have to get a different and less used name... :-)

  • We have a Jackson!

I know!  And might I say that "Jackson Reid" is a great first/middle name.  How are you two doing, by the way?  And your husband?  I have to always remember to also ask how the hubs is adjusting, lol.
  • Our yellow lab is Jackson.  Rick named him before we even got together.
  • don't you hate that? being a lauren, i'm very anti super popular names. haha

i've loooved addison and ava for so so long...but their uber popular right now, so i'm steering away. i think i'll lean towards more traditional names. i'm loving katherine (kate) right now

isn't it funny how everyone seems to jump on a name and love it at the same time? it's crazy!

We are doing fantastic.  DS is such a sweetheart!  He is a wonderful baby, and we couldn't have asked for anything more.  As far as DH....DS has him wrapped around his finger already.  He has been off work since I delivered on the 22nd.  He goes back this coming Monday, and he is pretty bummed about it.

dh and I *love* the name Ava. It's one syllable, no possible mean nicknames...

I like Catherine, then calling her Cate.

I just like old school, classic names all the way around.

The names I see more than anything else for little girls are Lilli/Lilly and Anna Grace for girls and Carter and Jack for boys... but this is going by the names I see at work on a daily basis.

  • I really liked Jackson until it became so popular...I even thought about using it but with a slightly different spelling.

It sure is.  I love the classic names too.  Katherine is so lovely.  I also like the sweet ones like Rose, Ruby, and Lillie (my great-grandmother's name).  The tough part will be finding a name that goes well with our last name.  I love my girl name, but we both can seem to agree on a boy name.

That's great! :-D How much time do you get off work?  I bet it really does suck for the dads having to go back to work so soon.

  • Yeah, it's annoying when you like a name that gets popular. It's especially hard with boys names I think-so many of them seem too common. I have a couple picked out for the future, but I definitely think they are harder to come up with.

On another note, I am a big big fan of 'classic' names...I am ?glad they are coming back around in style, but still want to have ones that aren't too popular, if that makes sense. :-P

I'm not big into popular names.  I want to use family names or something that I like or something that has meaning.

Lauren- I'm named after my maternal grandmother, Kathryn and she went by Kate for the longest time (but was not a fan of it), so the only way my mom could name me Kathryn (as she LOVED it and likes family names) was if I went by Katie or Kathryn........ hence my name.  My middle name is my aunt's name (father's sis) and my sister is named for someone my mom liked and her godmother.  Wink
