Definitely get the me the hotel info if you don't mind so I can call and check rates.  We are trying to find a place that isn't $$ because we will be getting in late and leaving early the next morning.  Also I've read a ton of reviews about the holiday, but I'd love to hear your experience too.  Thanks!

Re: Erin&Gregg07

  • We stayed at a Ramada Inn. I have to tell you it wasn't the nicest place. But we did see worse. I would suggest the Radisson Admital Semmes Hotel. It's nice and clean. There is also a Comfort Inn that supposed to be pretty new. Most hotels (if you ask) will allow you to leave your car there over the course of your trip. We took the Trolly (big Purple Bus). There are bus stops all over you will see them they are green. It takes you to the port.

Ok as far as the ship. Get there early, we got there (to the port) 9:30 or 10. We waited and were some of the first on the ship. IMO it will go so much smoother to get there early. Plus when you get to get on the ship early you can explore the ship without so many people. We had to leave our luggage with the people who loaded it. So make sure you have everything you need in a carry on bag. ex passports, travel confirmations, sunscreen, credit cards, cash...You'll get your sail and sign card when you check in. You use this for everything you do on the ship. When you get into a port you will leave and get back on the ship this way. You will charge everything on this card too. You will get lunch when you get on the ship. The food id so good! There is 24 hour pizza and ice cream.

There is a muster drill when everyone is on the ship. It's a pain but you have to do it. Oh like I said get a soda card. We just got one and used it for both of us. Its $30 but well worth it. Drinks are really expensive on there. If you drink I would try to drink beer, it's ALOT cheaper than fruity drinks or Liquor. Order room service at least once! It's so much fun and you and DH get to eat in. The food is great! At dinner if you do to the Dinning Room don't be afraid to reorder if you don't like something. We had one guy order 3 different main courses because he wanted to try it all. The lava desert is great you have to try it if they still have it!

For days you are in a port if you don't want to spend money on food go back to the ship and eat lunch. You can board and get off the ship as many times as you like. If you are going to Cozumel and Calica like we did, in cozumel we went off on our own. We just shopped and went into different bars. I found a place that sold clinique makeup for a fraction of what it is here so I bought several bottles. We had a blast doing this. We found Margaritaville, I recommend going here!!!! It's in Cozumel and is to the right after you get off the ship. Liquor is super cheap in Mexico!

In Calica, we did a excursion. We were told there was so much to do in Cozumel but nothing in Cailca. We went on a Beach Break excursion. It was about $50 per person and it took you to a private beach and you got to use there snorkle gear, kayaks, and other stuff. The drinks were totally free. Anything you wanted. There is also a rest. attached to this place. It was really nice and you took and air conditioned bus to the beach. Ok so I think I have went on long enough. My mom stayed at another hotel in Mobile and I will find out that one too. If you have any questions page me.

  • Thanks so much for all of the info and sharing the pics.  You guys are so cute and it looks like you had a blast.  I should have told you before that I've cruised on Carnival twice so I do know most of the basics...sorry!!  Anyway I really appreciate all of the info.  I called the Radisson and like 100 other hotels (feels that way anyway), and not sure what we are going to do yet.  Anyway like I said I really appreciate you taking the time to tell me about all of this.  I'm glad you mentioned doing the beach break in Calica b/c that's what I was thinking about doing and we were wondering if drinks were included.  Thank you!  We don't go til June but I'll check in and let you know how it goes.
  • Ooops, sorry lol. The beach break is sooo worth it. You are there all day and you can just relax and have a blast. We took our own beach towels on the beach break too. We went in June and had a blast. Hope you have fun!

  • I went on a cruise with my 2 bffs in Oct 2007 and we did the beach break in Cozumel and it was great.  I totally think I'm sold on the one in Calica now!  Thanks again for all of the info.
  • Oh and btw I think we are going to book the Ramada since we will only be there a few hours to get some sleep we don't need anything fancy.
  • Ugh sorry one more thing :)  Was the beach break in Playa Del Carmen (sp??)?  If so do you remember the name of the beach, resort, or wherever they took you?  I looked on Carnival's site and it doesn't say.  I wanted to see if I could find a website or any pics.  THANK YOU!
  • Hey sorry I'm just getting back to you. The beach break was in Calica. We didn't stop in Playa. Here is a link to the one in Cailca.
