Tennessee State Fairgrounds Flea Market

Has anyone been?  Is it worth the trip?

I'm in search of some odds and ends for our home.

Re: Tennessee State Fairgrounds Flea Market

  • I was once a few years ago.  I thought it was worthwhile.  I wasn't really looking for anything specific though so it was a little overwhelming.

  • It's usually not that great in the winter, as fewer vendors show up. However, spring through fall is usually pretty good. I think April and October are supposed to be the best months, as there are more vendors there (according to my mom, at least).
  • I haven't been in a while, because I always miss the weekends it's on, but yes - it's a pretty good one and fun for a nice afternoon.
  • PP is right.  It's awfully lean in the winter.  But in the late spring to just before fall it's really big.  They'll have everything from useless crap/junk, reclaimed doors and windows from old wreck houses, antiques of all sorts and conditions, to brand new items, tools, commerical fair stuff.  There really is something for everyone.

Considering there's no entry fee, just a $3-5 fee to park your car and a Saturday morning, it's worth the trip once a month.  A list might be helpful.  And you may want to eat before you go.  Food tends to be meh.

  • My mom and I went today for the first time.  We're 99% sure we saw every building and there was *nothing* there.  Total crap.  Maybe 10 pieces of furniture in the entire place, a few antiques in the form of old glassware.  It's a flea market in terms of drugstore overstocks (expired sunscreen & haircolor, anyone?), second quality socks & underwear, off-brand bedding...total junk.  I won't be going back until they have their antiques show - I couldn't find it on their website, but I know they have it either once a year or twice a year.
  • Thanks girls.  I ventured out on Saturday and it was a lot of misc. items I really didn't care for.  I thought my hubby was going to kill me.  ; )
Thanks for the info, will keep an eye open for the antique show.
    Thanks again!
