Today's Question: 4/8

Maybe we've done this one before, I can't remember.  If it's a repeat, someone else ask a question!

What are your favorite pizza topppings?

When we make pizza at home we usually have pepperoni, green peppers and onions.

BUT if it's just for me my favorite is a regular cheese pizza with tomatos, artichoke, and feta cheese.

Re: Today's Question: 4/8

  • Ohhh, I love so many kinds of pizza.

If I get a regular pizza (tomato sauce), I have extra cheese and mushroom or extra cheese and bacon -- sometimes I get all 3.

My other love is pizza with alfredo sauce instead of tomato with spinach and mushroom -- sometimes chicken too.

  • I'm a simple girl, I usually skip all the meat. I love tomatoes, onion and peppers----green, banana, jalapeno or pepper flakes works for me.

I've been meaning to try making a homemade pizza, so if anyone has any tips I would love to have them.

Do you have a bread maker?  I have uncanny's pizza crust recipe from MM and I love it. I make it in the bread maker and it's super easy.

    it's

    2.5 cups flour

    1 tsp salt

    1 tsp sugar

3 tbsp veggie or olive oil (i use evoo)

    1 cup water

1 tbsp yeast (i use a hair less than 1 full tbsp.

It makes one really big pizza, or 2 smaller ones.  I also use it for stromboli.  For stromboli especially it's easiest to work with if you refrigerate it for an hour or so.

I have a kitchen Aid w/ a dough hook----a bread maker just makes the dough for you right? I'll have to try the stromboli---I think dh would really like that.

    That'll work!

For the stromboli, I roll the whole dough out in a big rectangle and cover it with ham (lunch meat kind), mozzarella, green and red peppers, onions, mozzarella cheese, and a little bit of ragu.  Then you roll or fold up the stromboli.  (I prefer to fold it like a tri-fold wallet, but long-ways).

Then bake at 400 for about an hour.

  • Thanks MrsZP2B---I'm so excited about trying stromboli.

  • I think I'm the one person in the world who doesn't like pizza.  I only like pizza when it doesn't taste like pizza.

For example, at places like SeviBs and Pizza Inn, I'm in love with the buffalo chicken pizza.  At Brixx on Woodruff road, I love this spicy shrimp pizza they have.

At home, I usually do chicken sausage and basil, NO SAUCE, and feta cheese or goat cheese.  I also like doing a wild mushroom pizza with a pesto sauce.

The only remotely traditional pizza I like is a veggie lovers pan pizza from pizza hut.  LOL, I'm pretty weird.

  • mushroom and kalmata olives and extra sauce!
  • I like spinach, mushrooms, feta, pineapple, sausage- though not necessarily together!  My husband is funny because he is a total meat eater but rarely eats meat on pizza, so we usually just stick to pineapple.  Andolini's in Charleston has this combo that I love.  It's called Almost Hawaiian and it has mushrooms, feta, and pineapple.
