Have any of you ladies painted your cabinets??? Was it really hard and time consuming??. I'm really wanting to do a mini bathroom makeover, but have no idea where to start. I'm not really the DIY kinda person,LOL but because of limited funds, I'm learning more DIY stuff each day. I'm looking for cheap/cute ways to do some stuff to our house, but have no clue what to do or where to start.
I'm also looking for cheap ways to change up the way my countertops look. Getting new ones are out of the question, can you paint them?? I'm not sure what they're made out of, they're not granite, but some kind of something, formica maybe??? I have no idea, all I know is I really don't like them, but have no $$$ to replace them.
TIA for any advice.
Re: Painting cabinets/revamping countertops
Cabinets shouldn't be too hard. A friend of mine did them in a weekend. But that was her kitchen. I found this too about countertops! HTH!!!

Fran (mrsmun) did her kitchen cabinets. To do them right, it is VERY time consuming - you have to take them off, sand, primer & paint - probably several coats.
As far as countertops - you'd be surprised how inexpensive new formica/laminate countertops are.
A bathroom cabinet is not a big deal to paint..since it is pretty small. I am actually going to paint ours while the hubby is out of school this summer! The guys at my local Sherman Williams did a great job of giving me little tips...and helping me pick out a great espresso color!
I also just watched an episode of designed to sell on hgtv...and they painted over formica countertops! You could look around on their website for tips on that! I totally think you could do it...and for very little $$!
Oh...I totally forgot! You could check at Southeastern Salvage(Irondale)....or Mazers for a bathroom countertop piece. They are pre-cut...and depending on the size and material...very inexpensive!
If you painted the cabinet yourself...and purchased a new countertop and backsplash...it would still be a fairly inexpensive upgrade! Also just changing out faucets and light fixtures makes a huge difference in a bathroom!
hey girl, also post this on D&R as there are usually MANY girls who have done this and can give tips on best way to do it. Not that our board isn't great, I just know there are some on there that may have the details outlined for you.
I have not done this as most of the homes I've owned they were already painted.
GL and HTH!!!
Yes I did....it was extremely time consuming (it took months, but then again, we have a lot of cabinets, plus we did the insides as well), but they came out beautiful. Here's what we did:
Good luck!
