Since all my previous general practitioner/gyno needs were met by student health and I'm no longer a student, please recommend your GP and/or Gyno (or group practice). Maybe include a little bit on what kind of doctor they are (e.g. sweet bedside manner, simplifies everything, communicates in clinical details, straight-shooter, blunt, Dr. House incarnate, etc.)
GP: Preferably someone in the Vandy/Baptist/Centennial/Metro Nashville. Male or female is fine.
OB/Gyn: Slight preference for male gynos (not had the greatest luck with women gynos), but would consider seeing a recommended female. At this point in my life I'm not in the age range of being a fountain of fertility, so someone that is more knowledgible in 30+ conception/PG issues is a plus (without being pushy about "make babies NOW").
Someone that really knows their clinical details is a big plus.
TIA!
Re: Recommend your GP/Gyno
I go to Dr. Nanette Dendy with Hillsboro Medical Group / Vanderbilt for my General Practitioner. She's fantastic - very patient and willing to discuss anything, but not a small talk kind of person. She's very thorough and has always followed up with me on everything.
I go to Dr. Katherine Haney with Tennessee Women's Care for my OB...but I'm not sure she really fits what you are looking for.
Hope this helps!
I recently started seeing Dr. Eileen Cassidy. I am 31 and TTC. I have thyroid issues that just got under control but we have been trying on and off for a while... She told me to try for 3 more months and then come in to get more testing done if we were not successful. I like that she didn't freak me out and say "oh, something is clearly wrong" but listened to my other medical history and made the best decision for me to move forward. I liked her bedside manner, she felt somewhat like a friend that you could open up to about your concerns. She is with this group, they are right next to Centennial Women's hospital:

I see a nurse practitioner, Debby Snedegar, as my GP. She is fabulous. Very sweet, very attentive and extremely thorough. She found my thyroid issue even after the intial round of testing made it seem normal. If she hadn't found that I would have likely been miserable for years before anyone actually listened to me that it was a thyroid problem. She is with Vanderbilt and her office is on Richard Jones in Green Hills.
I also see Dr. William Patten with Heritage Medical Group. He is a GP but I see him for my thyroid. Not the warmest man (not cold, just doesn't really say much), but I went in with an action plan and he appreciated my research and listened to what I want.
Hi!!!! I am a L&D nurse at Baptist.....
My OB is Dr Carl Wingo. He practices at Centennial, too. He's a great OB & comes highly recommended by our staff (most of our staff sees him). He listens & can work with you on a "game plan."
I don't have a GP, yet....
