The baby book says, "don't panic"
I had some spotting last night with what looked like a tiny clot. More spotting this morning after a bm (sorry TMI). I just got off the phone with the doctor's receptionist, I hope he calls back ASAP. My first appointment isn't until Jan 4th.
I'm trying to keep it cool, but I can't help but worry.
MIL is thrilled you're joining the family.
Re: The baby book says, "don't panic"
definitely drink lots of water and lay down! are you having any cramps or discomfort?
it's hard to relax, but this is REALLY common. i think more ladies on this board than you think had tons of early spotting, and went on to have an otherwise uneventful pregnancy.
if the doc doesn't call back by noon, call them again.
This happened to me. I know it's so hard to relax, but try to. Drink a ton of water. Sit down or lay down if you can.
TMI: My doc said that I had this because my cervix was irritated. Basically with all the pregnancy hormones, the blood vessels on your cervix get enlarged and are easily irritated. So things like too much walking, sex, taking a poop burst them and you get bleeding. I never had any cramping, and it always resolved itself if I just did nothing and drank water. I still bleed occassionally and it still freaks me out.
I went in for spotting pretty early, before 8 weeks. They did an internal ultrasound and everything was fine. We were ordered not to have sex until our next appointment. I think the spotting ended up lasting a week or so.
if you start to feel pain, you can always go to the ER, although resting at home and drinking water is going to be far more relaxing for you regardless.
but for now, it's best to just try and realize that it's one of those things that seems to work itself out for a lot of the ladies here!

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
I just popped in and saw your post. Ditto PMeg. This happened to me last year--on my feet all day cooking Thanksgiving dinner and WHAM, spotting the next day. It was my troublemaking cervix, baby was just fine. I know it's scary and stressful, but chances are all is well.
Take care of yourself!
