$1000 lady posted a brief update

-->

Apparently they're home from the hospital, and supposedly the doctors never told her what caused her kid to get sick (bets on that being true?) but she has a lot of thoughts on what happened, which she'll be sharing soon.

I wonder if Dan will write a rant about hospitals.

Re: for all you EK lovers

  • I am really thinking the whole thing is MUD - a distraction from the whole "you two suck as parents" theme of recent comments (before the censoring)  - if people feel bad for her, they'll be less likely to say something negative.
  • Does anyone know the back story?  Was her son in PT before this incident?  I really hope it's not a result of this incident, but I have a sinking feeling that it is.

And yeah, I doubt that the doctors didn't tell her the cause.  If they truly didn't know, she'd be trumpeting that all over her crappy little blog.  I think she's hiding something.

  • You know, all jokes aside, it sounds like a very serious situation. I really hope that he can get all of the help that he needs.

I agree.  I really feel for the poor kid--it's not his fault that his parents are idiots, but he has to suffer the consequences.

  • step #1 in that process - protective custody.

I'm curious if CPS looked into this at all. Also wondering if EK has MPS.

... or maybe I've been reading too many Jodi Picoult books.

me too. I think that will require removing him and his brothers from the home.

  • Yeah, I am pretty sure that child has some undiscovered deficiency do the crappy food she gives him.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929
  • How old is Daniel?  Her latest post says he's in diapers.  I can't tell how old he is from his photo--her post seems to imply that wearing diapers is a step backward for him?

Really, really concerned about all three of those kids.

I agree.  I hope they all get the help they need.

I also doubt that they don't know the whole cause.  Well, the docs may not know how the family lives.  That may tell them more of the story.

  • I believe Daniel's four. So he's now in diapers and can't walk very well (if at all?). What the HELL happened to that kid?

Daniel is the oldest at 3.5. he wasn't in PT before this. And he was potty trained. This doesn't bode well for the family.

I don't say this lightly, but if EK & Dan's crap parenting is responsible, then I really hope that the state steps in and takes those kids away.  Before something even worse happens.

And yeah, I know I posted my thoughts on this, but a kid doesn't end up with that kind of serious brain damage without the doctors at least having some inkling as to what caused it.  It's not like he had a fever for a day or two and they said, "Hard to say, probably a virus" or something.  This is really fuckingserious.

I really agree with you.  If it's true, I just hope they find a way to make the situation better, all around.

  • Heffa, I'm betting the doctors told her what was going on with him but she didn't like it so she put on her Jesus Glasses and her Jesus Headphones and refused to accept it. The only reason I could possibly fathom doctors not informing the parents is if there is some sort of legal situation pending but even then I think the parents still have the right to know what's happening.

This with a twist.  If your kid was near death, would you exactly be able to discern the finer points of metabolics, neuronal pathways and so on?  Especially when some docs are pretty bad at "making it plain"

Yeah some jump headfirst into google research the first opportunity they get, a lot are just "scrambled egg-heads"

  • There are times when doctors don't know the cause of something. It might take time to rule out different things.
    image
  • I find it hard to believe that she doesn't know what happened. Generally, when you are discharged from the hospital you are sent home with papers about the condition, medication lists and how to take the medication, follow-up instructions, etc. Hell, I get them when I go to the doctor for just routine things.

We probably won't ever know the full story, and what she is posting is cryptic and casts a lot of suspicion on them and their parenting.

I do hope that her son gets better quickly, and that he doesn't have any lasting damage.

But then wouldn't they keep him at the hospital for more tests and evaluation?

    image
  • You know, you would think that they would keep him for more test. It is a stange situation all the way around.
    image
  • I don't know. It's feasible to me that the hospital would have sent the kid home without necessarily knowing the cause of his illness.

    1. They have little to no health insurance. Maybe the state insurance they do carry has a limit.

    2. At a certain point, you can't hold someone at a hospital against their (or their parents') will. If EK and Dan knew that every day was just racking up more bills, and the kid seems to be out of the water, they could have demanded to have him discharged.

    3. Sometimes they just don't know. They could have recommended follow up doctors visits, but discharged the kid because he was out of the danger zone and there wasn't much more they could do for him in the hospital.

I'm sure EK is withholding information, especially if she thinks or knows she's partially at fault for what happened. I'm sure she's frustrated with the medical community because they probably asked a lot of prying questions related to possible abuse, and we all know how defensive she is. But I guess I'm in a generous mood today and want to give her at least some benefit of the doubt. That family really does have a long hard road ahead of them, and honestly updating the internet about what's going on should not be her top priority right now.
