I just have a regular plastic one, I assume there are better kinds. ?
I do use my old ones for cleaning, but I'm sure there's a better option.
Re: bath puffs
Tired after a long morning of hiking and swimming.
You knit your own Jenny??? Wow!!! I'll look on etsy, but are these biodegradeable?
Not a loofah Supergreen, the plastic kind...yes, I'm ashamed. I do repurpose them though!
This is what I think of when I see loofah:

Oh, no a real loofah is like what mainerocks posted, the inside of a veggie:
That's a really cool site MR!! I'm not sure I can rely on my gardening skills though to provide bathing materials. And loofahs are kinda scratchy!!
Yeah... I haven't done very well with squash, but even if I had, they are scratchy! I think I'll look around PCC and Whole Foods, and check Etsy. I'd love something biodegradeable, and soft!
No to washcloths though, they don't lather the same.
K is a better gardener than I am! But I'd also say I'm more of a 'laissez-faire' style gardener. I figure if it needs much from me, it shouldn't be growing in my garden!!
I still have the butternut and acorn squash I bought last fall. Too complicated.
ditto this!
oh no!
i think with the acorn squash you can just slice it open and put butter and brown sugar on the inside and bake for like 45 mins... but it would require baking.
i have a good recipe for butternut, but i'm pretty sure it's more than you want to do.
i'm really not a squash lover... especially butternut.. i hate peeling it.

Ha! You know me so well!
It would require baking, AND sugared veggies...bleh! The only time I've ever liked sweetened veggies/starches is that sweet potato or yam dish you make.
The dogs may get the squash...if I ever feel like baking it! Can I microwave it?
PV, why do you peel the squash? When I eat squash, I just scoop it out with a spoon after it has been cooked.
Hmm, I have some savory squash recipes, but they include meat. Too bad you don't have any spaghetti squash, all that needs is some tomato sauce.
Me too. Much easier.
You can microwave it, but it's the same amount of work as using the oven.

the acorn squash doesn't get peeled, it just gets baked and spooned. my fav recipe for butternut requires peeling and dicing... but i really do love it, so it's worth it to me. i can still whine about it though, right?
alisha, i'm sure you can micro the squash... i wonder if you should put some olive oil or something on top though? i have never tried microwaving. and yeah, the acorn squash in the oven isn't as good as my sweet potatoes.

I make this butternut squash recipe all the time. So easy, and so yummy! We're making it for company tomorrow night.
http://itaintmeatbabe.blogspot.com/2009/09/roasted-autumn-vegetables.html
ingredients
2 tbsp unsalted butter
1 butternut squash (peeled, seeded, and cut into 3/4 inch cubes)
1/2 cup low sodium chicken broth
1/4 cup water
1 tbsp dark brown sugar (though I usually have golden on hand, so i'm sure i used that)
heat butter in a large skillet over medium high heat until golden brown. add squash, saute, stirring occasionally, until golden brown and tender when pierced with a fork, about 16 minutes.
add chicken broth, water, and brown sugar; cook until liquid has evaporated and squash is nicely caramelized, about 6 minutes. remove from heat and season with salt and pepper. serve.
this one doesn't come out overly sweet, though it does use brown sugar. but the butter flavor really comes through. what can i say? i'm from the south.
