Anyone grow using the Eartbox?
New to growing food... I've heard good things about the EarthBox... will be easy for a first time grower. In the past when I've tried to grow from seed, I've failed, so I figured, I will try this dummy proof system out. I hope I keep my food alive!
I'm going to start with tomatoes and lettuce.
Re: Anyone grow using the Eartbox?
I have something similar to an earthbox... I love it. It usually holds 2 tomato plants which get quite big. It is a lot easier than just growing single plants in containers because fo the self-watering aspect, and there more soil to stay slightly moist. With containers, I'd need to water my tomatoes every single day and missing a day sometimes killed the plants.
If you're handy, you can google it, I saw instructions once on making them from a couple of rubbermaid type bins. I was considering making some more to line my balcony, but then we moved and we rent a garden plot.
Yeah, I've seen instructions online on how to make them as well... but I nor my DH are very handy. Oh, DH would probably think otherwise but this project wouldn't get done for 6 months if I put it on his honey-do list.
I bought two boxes last night. I'll make the rods to hold to tomato plants vs. buying them as I should be able to handle that project.
