Wishing Well theme for Bridal Party .. need help!

My cousin is getting married in August ... her shower is coming up in June ... getting ready for invites ...

Want to do a "theme" wishing well ... thinking of a "summer time" type of theme (BBQ items, patio items, etc ...) but how do I word that???

Any other theme ideas (besides stock the bar ... that wont work) ??

Re: Wishing Well theme for Bridal Party .. need help!

  • I would ask the bride if there was a particular room in their house or a particular catagory of items that they really needed or wanted and go from there.  Also, I've worked in the Gift Registry at Macy's for 5 years, and I've found that when you ask for themed gifts, it really limits the guests options and it discourages people from giving what they really like to give or want to give if it doesn't fit with the theme.  It also only gives the couple gifts for one room or catagory and it is nice to get items that fit all over the house.  At my bridal shower I received everything from towels to Waterford crystal, and each gift was a little more of a surprise because everything wasn't from the same catagory.  Good Luck!
  • I have to agree with pp.  Do a theme for decor or food, but don't theme the gifts.  If they've only registered for one BBQ set that theme is going to be tough.  Let people give what they want.
  • As a pp said, talk to the bride!!!  For example, DH and I had ratty college type kitchen stuff.  Everyone assumed because we were older that we had purchased nice stuff, which was not the case.

    Ditto.

  • For my bridal shower, my bridesmaids did an insert in the invitation for the wishing well. Some people got inserts asking them to bring baking supplies or spices, other got some asking them to bring paper products & some got ones for cleaning & laundry supplies. It was a very nice thought b/c it gave us stuff to get the panrty and cleaning closet going. I thikn I had enought paper towels for a year & after 3 years, I just used up my last box of dryer sheets! All of the goodies were put into a trashcan & laundry basket that the BM'sgot for me.
