Hello Everyone!
I am new here and in desperate need of advice. I have a small planting bed, and my roses get eaten alive every year by the Japanese Beetles. This year I bought 2 traps. I put each about 10 feet from my roses. But it seems that these traps have attracted MORE beetles to not only my roses, but my geraniums too. I can understand why, but what's the point of them in the first place if they are just going to attract even more beetles to my flowers?
I am thinking now that I need to take one of the traps down. But is there anything else I need to be doing?
Thanks!
Re: Japanese Beetle Traps
you may want them to be further away from your plants.
but, yes, attracting more bugs to your yard/plants is one of the major downsides of those traps.
YES! This!
Move them across the street next to the stop sign where the ugly weeds are growing.
In the directions for my beetle traps, it says to place them at least 50' from your ornamental plants--as pp's have said, yours are too close!
Also, be sure to empty the traps or the smell of dying beetles will prevent new beetles from being trapped.
