When looking into a trip, hotel, resort, apartment complex...anything like that, how much thought do you really put into peoples' personal reviews/remarks that you find on the net??? I always try to take them w/a grain of salt, cuz everyone's tastes/ideas are soooo different, but I've practically got myself sick to my stomach over something. I'll explain more after I get some responses.
Re: reviews & ratings
I generally follow the reviewer's advice...
Have you tried yelp?
Can't wait to meet my baby boy!
No, but I'll go check it out. Is it for hotels, resorts, apartments??

Depends...mostly on how intelligent the person writing the review sounds! Some people just want to complain about anything, or everything. Some things that bother some people don't bother me. And it also depends on if they are cold hard facts or just opinions, you know?
Is this about your apartment? If so, I would definitely take it with a grain of salt. When I was apartment searching I read sooo many reviews. Some of them were good on places that I thought were terrible and some were bad on the ones I liked. I actually didn't pick one complex because a review said they had bugs everywhere especially scorpions, but my friend moved there and never had a single bug. So who knows, that person may have been super nasty and left food all over to attract bugs or something!
Yes, unfort. it is. I finally took the time to read reviews last night & wish I hadn't. I'm sick to my stomach over this, cuz the pics & everything look great, but who knows when they were taken. But also cuz Jenn & CJ went to check it out & they both loved it! And I trust her cuz she was w/me when I went to check a bunch out & she saw what I liked & didn't like. I could only find one site that had reviews on it for this place, but the majority of them were bad ones! They were also pretty much all written in 2008 & 2009. There was one in 4/10, but it sounded like the guy was really pissed at someone in particular mainly. I don't know what to do. I've already put all of our mail & everything to go to this place (as of the day we leave here). We didn't sign a lease yet...I just have $150 into app & admin. fees, but they're planning on us being there, gave me the address & everything.
For apartments, I never looked at reviews. But for the one we have now, I wish I had. All the reviews that they had were all correct. But you also got to look at when it was posted, sometimes I forget to look at the date. Some apartments are always bought by someone else and they fix all the problems.

I have very different tastes from most people. When I go to another country I prefer "authentic" over "updated and clean" whereas most people who write reviews it seems prefer the comforts of home when they go away. So I do read them, but I ignore things that wouldn't bother me and most of the time I am not discouraged from going somewhere. In fact, one resort I stayed at had GLOWING reviews from almost every who'd been there... I hated it! Haha!
Also remember that people are more likely to write a review when they've had a bad experience than a normal or even good one.
I keep trying to tell myself this, thanks!
I wouldn't focus on apartment reviews. For the most part, they will always be negative. People who are comfortable with their renting situation don't usually take the time to go out of their way to write a positive review. But those who have a bad experience will flag every site possible.
One of the complexes we lived at had a ton of bad reviews, but we lived there for four years and never had a problem, in fact it was pretty darn great.
The biggest thing you should do is look into the area. If Jenn and CJ are familiar with the area and think it's good, then don't worry about it.
Doppleganger hits again!
Mwhahaha!
Yeah, I believe that too. I'm trying not to worry, plus Jenn confirmed that it was really nice when she saw it & they showed her around. Some of the reviews said about there being bed-bugs, stolen cars, the locked gates didn't work well, people didn't take care of their kids &/or animals...stuff like that.
