So, kitty and I stayed out of the way while the big strooooooooong men began to put down our flooring. We were safely tucked away in the master bedroom...Bob came in and out...I asked Bob..."IS IT THE RIGHT COLOR?" of course he said yes...about halfway into the installation in the living room my curiosity got the better of me and I had to go look. OH NO IT IS NOT THE RIGHT COLOR!!! Dammmmmit...it's oak, but it's stained red...not the medium brown I had picked out. I decided not to say anything and just DEAL with it, but he (Bob) came in and asked me...how I liked the color and I told him it was not the color I had picked out. OK...job stopped and I go to the flooring company which thankfully is only a few miles from the house. I get the sample I picked out take it back home with me. On the label it 'says' it's the same color sample as what they are taking out of the box and putting on my floor...but when you put the sample down on top of the flooring it's not even close. Someone somewhere messed up and it had to be at the factory. Job stops...they finish the livingroom, we'll get together on another sample and they will rip out what they put down today and redo the floor...how long we will have to live with this mess I have no clue right now.
Things should be easier than this.
Re: Murphy's Law and my new flooring...
OOO NO!! I'm sorry you guys are having to go through that. I swear, nothing's easy anymore. I'd want the correct color too, so thankfully it'll get straightened out. Hope it doesn't take to long to fix it.
Yes, only another woman would understand how important color is to the overall look of a room. I have a lot of oak in the room anyway and it's in the brown family, the kitchen cabinets are a lighter but still brown. I have a few pieces that are stained in that Mission reddish oak so to add yet another shade and factor that into the mix just won't work at all, it needs to blend with the woods I already have. That said, I'm really going to love it once the right color is on the floor, it looks better right now even in the "wrong" color on the floor. I just hope this passes quickly.
Furniture is back in place and the guys are gone. They finished the livingroom and left the hall alone...but they had ripped the carpet off and it's just a really beautiful concrete slab floor in the hall right now..
