food survey - showers?
I'm helping host a lingere shower next month, and we're trying to nail down the food.
What have you served in similar situations? Did you have it catered?

Well as you know my latest shower adventure will be all homemade.
We are having steak and arugula on rolls, smoked salmon, fruit, salad, and cupcakes.
BUT... it's during the day. At night, I would probably do more substantial stuff. Caprese skewers are one of my faves!!
Have you thought of maybe a pasta station? You could have a linguini or fettucini in a large serving bowl and a couple side bowls you could have different sauces...maybe shrimp scampi, a red wine tomato sauce and a chicken alfredo. People can pick which sauce they want with their pasta.
Spinach artichoke dip or something similar?
Cheese and cracker platters
Dessert table?
Just a few ideas..?
Is it a couples shower or a themed one?!!?!?

I'm always a fan of finger foods at showers.

maybe some chicken fingers cut up w/little toothpicks/Little smokies/Meatballs
maybe some chicken salad sandwiches
Rotel dip w/Chips
ahhh, so only girls!?!?!? I would do a theme then w/the food? How many people will you have?!?! I think the more fun you are with this the better. Definitely get/make a cute cake.
Serve pink themed items or breakfast foods (although that wouldn't go well w/those drinks - but those are a cute idea!!!! more like champagne would go w/bfast foods.......) or I'd just do finger foods, chick salad cross sandwiches, etc.
You could also REALLY have fun with this..........as the host. How to decorate and all.
I think that's a great idea! I think as favors (or even just as treats to have sitting around), I'm going to make these (you may not be able to open this at work.. it's sfw but it's a blogger page), but make the cake part hot pink, the "icing" pale pink, and drizzle dark chocolate over it to make it zebra striped
We're going to do a zebra striped runner down the table the food is going on, and we're going to sprinkle hot pink rose petals down the runner and top it off with a line of votives... We kind of want it to be classy, but still really cute and flirty.
Do you think fondue would be fun? My biggest worry is that the food won't be heavy enough for the alc. We're only going to serve 2 cocktails pp max, but a little bit of vodka can go a looooooong way.

You could always do something like mexican dishes...and coin a phrase for the theme....like "Hot and Spicy" since it is a lingerie shower.
You can decorate in reds and black and do a lot of candles.
I LOVE Bfast at Tiffany's and anything AH.
I think if you do enough finger foods, people snack and you will be fine w/alcohol. I think a theme w/all that would be fun and people love that stuff. There is also a lingerie shaped cookie cutout (I saw on a website) that you could decorate, etc.

But it sounds great. Remember - KISS - keep it simple stupid. ha ha. Simple finger foods that are yummy are GREAT!!!

check it out when you get home. They're a variation of those red velvet cake balls that I think you posted about over christmas last year, but they're shaped to look like tiny little cupcakes, then dipped in candy coating and decorated with sprinkles. They are ADORABLE.
Ohhh... That would be really fun to get a lingere shaped cookie cutter. For one of our games, we're making penis_ shaped cookies and having a cookie decorating contest... lmao. Maybe it would be fun to decorate bustier cookies too!
Lindsay, that's a great idea!!! Maybe we could do like a spicy and sweet theme or something... Our colors are close to that - hot pink and black =D

I went to a lingerie shower one time where they had regular finger foods like chicken roll ups, rotel dip etc. (like tailgate food) but then made dirty names on signs in front of all the food. Like the chicken rollups were "penis rolls", etc. It was so fun and then everyone was more pre occupied by the names than the actual food. SO much fun!!!!!!! Publix makes a pink panty and bra cake too if you need another dessert.
I am lovin all the pp's ideas! At my LS we had **plenty** of alcohol....but we only had finger foods! It was still enough food for people to munch on all night! We also did the dirty name cards in front of each item
We had a cheese ball.....chicken nugget tray....rotel dip...small chicken salad croissants...sausage balls.....and several other items that I can't for the life of me remember! **that might be because of the margaritas**
