Re: Thanksgiving
We're not hosting. If we don't go to Shannons Moms, we'll be cooking just for us. We usually just make the basics... Turkey, Mashed, Carrots (with a brown sugar glaze), sweet potato, squash, peas (for me.. i love peas), Stuffing and lots of pie. Usually we eat thanksgiving left overs for a week.
This year we'll make buffalo chicken wing dip though as an appetizer. I also love to stuff celery with a cream cheese / olive mixture. Soo good! Hubby doesn't like it much.
I am hosting! I can not wait; it is my first time hosting Thanksgiving, or any holiday for that matter for my family. I am working half day at work so I can get home early so I can start getting all the prep done. I make everything from scratch so i like to allow planty of time so I can enjoy/host the day of. So the table will be ready for appetizers then will just need to set it quickly right before dinner but I have all those setting preped and ready to go.
I have not yet figured out what appetizers (there are to many i want to make [=)] ) to make but dinner will be;
Turkey, Gravy, Garlic Mash Potatoes, Stuffing muffins, Cranberry Sauce, Ambrosia, Rolls, Green Bean Almandine, and Salad.
Desert will be a varity of Cookies, Pumpkin Pie Cake or Pumpkin Cheese Cake (I haven?t decided yet) Apple Pie.
This is our first year back in Phoenix. For the last five years we've fended for ourselves mostly. This year I am looking forward to having Thanksgiving with my family and then with my Mother-in-Law. We are headed to Vegas the next day for the weekend to finally enjoy what it's like to have family to babysit for us!
I love Thanksgiving and love cooking for it... I used to make Turkey, Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Carrots, Corn, Rolls and Pie. Yummy!! I'll make a big Christmas dinner this year and I'm looking forward to that!!
SWEET POTATO!!

We have no real plans... but we will probably end up doing what we did last year and just getting a prime rib roast for ourselves, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, pumpkin pie for me, and FI will get some sort of chocolate dessert for himself. He's a way picky eater so all he'll eat is the meat and regular potatoes plain.
He doesn't seem to get really into holidays, but he humors me at least when I do.
we are having thxgiving at my parents but i will be making everything. my mom is still recovering from brain surgery and wont be able to do much
we are having a turkey, gravy, stuffing, creamy mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, rolls, pumpkin pie, cookies, and bread pudding. plus a gluten free verison of everything for me.
LOL!!!!!!!

I'm hosting for my immediate family and the in-laws. I'm considering opening up the invite to other family as well.
Right now, my menu includes:
- Turkey
LOL I'm sifting through all the recipes the girls posted a few days ago, and hope to have a "menu" by the weekend. It's coming up SO fast!
I haven't really planned this out yet, but off the top of my head...
Turkey - one fried, and (depending on how many people come) possibly another small one in the oven.
Also, mashed potatoes with homemade gravy, stuffing, my mom's AMAZING-to-die-for apple sweet potatoes, (Ray will also do his favorite - yams with little marshmellows on top), brown-and-serve rolls, salad, maybe corn?
Not sure what else.
Desserts: pumpkin pie and maybe pecan pie (both probably from Marie Callendars)

I'm not hosting it this year, we're having it at my mom's house. For the first time we're having DH's family join my family for Thanksgiving. We're also probably starting WW3 in my family by not going to my aunt's house in Peoria(long story) but my mom and I made the executive decision since this is the first holiday season my in laws are involved and all my older brothers are in a relationship at the same time(a miracle in and of itself lol).
I'm planning on making the stuffing, sweet potatoes, garlic mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie and pumpkin cupcakes. My kitchen is much too small for all of that.
We are hosting for my IL's and Dad in our new house. I'm terrified....I don't cook, I hate cooking. I don't know how to make a turkey or anything else for that matter. AAAAAAAAAAAH! This is going to be interesting.
Other than Turkey and mashed potatos, I have no idea what else we'll have. Ok, I just got a little anxious thinking about it as it's only 2 weeks away!!!!
Stac I can totally help you out if you want I can email/snail mail some recipes if you like I have a super easy piece of cake way to make Turkey I can message you
Pleeease, I'd be forever grateful! LOL
I will work on it today and email you as soon as I get it all done...
