Hi ladies! My husband and I are planning a mini vacation to the Portland area either this February or March. I've been looking around a lot online, but after a while, they all start to look like each other.
I did call a place that looked lovely called the Blue Plum. Unfortunately, they're undergoing renovations, and won't be able to accomodate us. The Painted Lady and Georgian House both also look very nice. Any reviews on them? Or even on others? We're hoping to find someplace close to the "action" that's affordable and convenient.
The trip is to relax, mainly, but also to scout out the areas. My husband and myself are hoping to relocate from NYC to Portland around Fall 2011. We've been talking about teh West coast for a few years, and the idea of Oregon hs been a running theme for over ayer now. We're finally in a position to move, and we're truly excited about a visit!
Re: Portland B&B recs?
There is a nice hotel outside of Portland that has a groupon right now. It is a beautiful area.

That looks absolutely beautiful!! But it seems a bit far from Portland (I believe it said 60 miles?) It's definitely a contender, but I may prefer to be closer to the city for the trip.
Also, my apologies for my terrible typing in my post! My "a" key sticks a lot, and often doesn't even show up.. And I think I type too fast sometimes, hence my spelling errors. eep!
I posted these a few weeks ago when another nestie asked..
Here's a few links to B&Bs in/near downtown Portland.

http://www.heronhaus.com/index.html (near the cute shopping areas on NW 23rd and close to the rose garden, japanese gardens)Too bad about Blue Plum being closed. I *think* we had family stay at a rental home operated by the same people, which was nice.
I used to commute past Lion Rose and thought it looked darling. It's in a nice area, too. It would be a bit far on foot to "action," but only a short bus ride (which goes right past the house).
If you have a car, I'd look into this one, too: terwilligervista.com? It would be a relaxing area. I used to live in SW. It's quiet, but still very convenient to downtown, etc.
You may also want to think about McMenamin's hotels. Kennedy School is in inner Portland. They have some more just outside Portland.
