Re: Valentines Day Plans

  • We usually go out to dinner, (macaroni grill) since that is where we went on our first Valentines Day together, and a movie =) Also we usually only do cards =)

  • Nothing. Honestly, I think the holiday is lame and just another reason to waste money. lol We won't be doing anything but I'd love some chocolate covered strawberries.

I may make something for DH...brownies, cake, cupcakes, cookies. Not sure though.

  • We go out for dinner, not sure where this year. This year we are going to the Coyotes/Captials game, so we might hit up a place out on the West Side and I am not sure where.

We get cards for each other but that's all.

  • We don't really do much either.  We exchange cards, and usually have a nicer date night (eat at The Keg, or something like that, rather than say Red Robin) the weekend before or after Valentine's Day.  I'm not a fan of going out to dinner that night, dealing with the crowds & a lot of times restaurants jack up the prices, or only have special menus for that night.  No thanks.
  • I think we're just going to fondue at home and maybe watch a movie.  Nice and relaxing  :-)

I'm going to need *at least* ten of those cheap-o boxes of candy this year.

Stac, chocolate covered strawberries sound AMAZING.  I might have to make some after work!

  • I'll probably just make a nice dinner at home.  We don't usually do much for Vday - and especially now that it's a month out from our anniversary, I prefer to spend the money on our anniversary than Vday.

  • DH's parents are arriving two days later to stay for a week so we will probably keep it low key and just spend the evening hanging out together (he works so much that will be precious to me!).  We might cook or do a low key take out or something.

  • we usually dine at home because I hate the crowds on V day. I do like getting flowers at work but this year I'm requesting an edibale arrangement. I'm loving fruit like no other lately. so my trump card is saying it'll me mine and the baby's valentines day gift Big Smile

I'll get him a card and place it and chocolates in his lunch box so he gets them at work. I like him to feel special too

This! I think we have the same anniversary! In past years we have gone out to eat, but the wait everywhere is crazy ridiculous, so Im thinking a nice dinner at home as well!! I'm with Stacy, I think Vday is pretty lame and so does DH so its always low key.

I also have the same anniversary and totally agree! We went to Cheesecake Factory on vday 2 years ago and had to wait for an hour, so no more going out for us. DH has the day off but I have school so we'll probably just do cards and small gifts.

  • WIth limited couple time we too don't want to fight the crowds so I think I'll make a nice dinner for all three of us and give gifts to my DH and DD.  I like the strawberry idea but fondue will have to wait until she's a little older. But I love the idea!
  • It will probably be just like any other night for us.  We've never really celebrated Valentines Day.
  • im like the only one here that LOVES valentines day!!! bahahaha we love this holiday more than xmas in my house :) every year i seem to out due myself tho hahah heres what i have planned for this year:

im doing a 14 days of valentines thing meaning every day lending up to the 14th we do something v-day related - on the 1st we are watching the movie valentines day, 2nd we are having breakfast for dinner with heart shaped waffles & dark chocolate covered strawberries, 3rd we getting a couples massage, 4th putting together 'love' packages to send to our niece and nephew, 5th going to the starbucks where we met, 6th baking a red velvet cake, 7th sending flowers to our moms and my grandma, 8th wine & chocolate night, and so on... on valentines day we are have a delish gourmet dinner made for us at home by a culinary student (omg im excited about this!!). i also found a band geek that will be playing the violin while we have dinner lol. dinner & the violin playing is costing us only $50 - cheaper than going out to a packed resturant!!!

Nice. I like Valentines Day too, so you are not the only one. I am just glad the Coyotes have a game that day and it works out for us.

  • i LOVE Valentines day too! I'm a hopeless romantic...

but I don't know what we'll do yet. Jason will be working, so we'll probably celebrate on the Sunday before. He's made me dinner a couple times on Valentines day. I will probably make some sort breakfast Monday morning. We will probably get each other something small. Hmmm.... I need to get thinking about this!

O-M-freakin-G I la la la love this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You rock Dianna! I may have to borrow a few of your ideas. I love the idea of 14 days of Valentine's Day, it's got to be good for the soul! That is awesome that you are able to have someone come to your house and cook for you while you have live music! I would love to do that to, maybe one of the other 1-14 days of V-day. Can you please message me their contacts and your recipe for red velvet cupcakes?

  • We are staying home this V-day.  Money is tight! :)  So we are making dinner (we are both fabulous cooks!)  We really don't have a tradition because every V-day we've done something different.  One year, he took me hiking to the top of Thunderbird at sunset and we had a picnic dinner :)  Another year he worked, so we did Roaring Forks the day after V-day.  Another V-day when he was working, I made his favorite Chocolate covered strawberries and took them to his ambulance station.  :)  So we really don't have any traditions, but if you like hiking, I HIGHLY suggest the hiking/picnic at the top of the mtn thing.  It was so romantic!
