Introduction to PHX board
Hi all! I've never posted on the local board so I thought I'd say hi. DH and I moved here from Cincinnati, OH in March. I love it here! DH will finish a graduate program in March and I'm in the process of changing jobs. We look forward to making roots here.
Any advice from transplants how to deal with being alone here? All our family and friends are in OH. We are having a hard time making friends.

HI, and welcome. There are a good group of girls here and occasional gtg's, but hopefully through both of your jobs you will find some fun people. Do you go to a church? Looking to join any sports (many are starting up about now so go online to sign up even if as a free agent)?

Welcome to the area!
I moved down here from just outside Columbus about a year before you.
I wish I had any good advice for you, but I've not been that successful at making friends in the area yet. There are a ton of things in the area that you and your DH can do together, or that you can do by yourself that are fun though!
My FI travels a lot for work, so I spend a lot of time here alone, going to the zoo or botanical gardens, or movies.
What area are you guys in?

DH & I moved here about a year & a half ago. It is hard being away from all your family & friends, I know all about that! We've made friends together mostly through both of our jobs. We've become pretty close friends with a couple of my coworkers & their husbands, as well as some of DH's coworkers & spouses. As for girlfriends, we really have a great group of ladies on this board. I've become close with several of them.
Stick around, post as often as you can & go to get togethers when they happen, and you're bound to make friends here!

I have been here for a couple of years now and think it is hard to make friends here, I have friends from work and from my fiance's work....So I am with you, hopefully there will be some great people at your new job! I am newer to this board so I am interested to see what they do for gtg's. Hang in there!

Wow, thank you everyone for the warm welcome and advice! We currently live in central phx near 16th street and Northern, but our lease is up in March, so we will be looking for a house to rent then. We'd like to move closer to Scottsdale since that's where I work and DH works.
I will definitely keep my eyes peeled for the gtg info. Looking forward to it!
