Visiting Phoenix in a week and wondering.....

Where should we go and what should we do?? We will be looking around at some neighborhoods and schools and such because we are planning on relocating in the next 6 months... but we are also looking to have a vacation while there. We have a 4 year old and a 3 month old. We are definitely planning on going to the zoo because DD1 LOVES animals but other than that, not sure what else to do.

Thanks Ladies!!!!

Re: Visiting Phoenix in a week and wondering.....

  • I always tell people to drive up South Mountain. Just take Central Avenue south and you essentially run into it. Amazing views of the whole Valley from the top, without having to physically hike it. Of course, if you like hiking, there are a lot of great trails for that around the city, too, but that might be daunting with two little ones.

There is also an aquarium that opened up recently. I haven't been there, but I've heard it's good. Your 4-year-old would probably love it: http://www.visitsealife.com/Arizona/

I also LOVE the Desert Botanical Garden. I think it's so beautiful that I got married there! ;)  http://dbg.org/

Hope you have a great trip! Stop back at the board when you relocate here!

  • I'm of no help to this thread because I don't even know what to do with my kid on the weekend and I live here! You could go to a spring training game. Tickets are pretty reasonably priced.

But I just wanted to say hello and hope you enjoy your vacation here!

  • There's also the Children's Museum of Phoenix (located in downtown Phoenix).  Admission is $11/person, though.  But kids really enjoy it.

  • If you are here by the weekend 3/19-20 City fest is going on at Tempe town lake. Lois Palau will be there along with some music artists such as Toby Mac.

There is also Wildlife World Zoo and Aquarium. There's also the Phoenix Zoo (yes we have 2 zoos here) which is quite a bit smaller.

The only thing that sucks about the Wildlife World zoo.... other then location if you don't stay on the west valley is having to pay sperate entrance fee into the Aquarium and from what i hear it isn't that great of a deal...
