Weeds and grass in flower bed?

I have a big corner of my back yard the the previous owner planted with lily of the valley. The area is a bit of a disaster with grass and weeds over taking the flowers.

  Is there anything I can put down that will kill the grass but not the flowers? 

I would pull it up by hand but it's at least 40sqft and I'm not really motivated...

Personally, after having lily of the valley myself, I vote for nuking all of it.  Lily of the Valley can be incredibly invasive--it crowded out every thing else in my shade garden, then went under the landscaping brick and started taking over the yard.  I had a horrible, multi year battle to get rid of it for good.

My advice would be to rake out anything you can, and put newspaper down over the grass/around the flowers.  Then you can mulch over the newspaper. 

If it is a mass planting and the flowers are very close together,  you might be able to just put down a thick layer of mulch.
