I am buying my transplants tomorrow and I have narrowed down my choice but I was curious what is everyone's favorite variety?
Re: Favorite Tomatoes
Black truffle, black krim. I tried green zebra and I thought it was too tart, but I accidentally let some go until they were red and they were deelish. So, I really like red zebras?
I have my vines picked out already, does anyone have cherry/bush types that are favorite?
"The meek shall inherit the earth" isn't about children. It's about deer. We're all going to get messed the fuckup by a bunch of cloned super-deer.- samfish2bcrab
Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
I love sungolds (an orange-colored cherry) but those are also indeterminate vines.
my all-time favorite tomato is cherokee purple but I don't get enough sun for those.
Oh, I have several!
I always like to get an Early Girl, because I'm impatient.
Then I get some sort of heirloom tomato.
And I have to have a beefsteak.
And I get some sort of yellow tomatoes.
Then, I get either a grape tomato or cherry tomato.
I always have to have a variety! I can't imagine a whole summer with only one kind of tomato.
I planted a few of the Sugar Sweet (I think?) varieties of cherry tomatoes and my kids (who usually don't eat tomatoes without being told to) kept snagging them right off the vine. I'll be putting in a few of those this year, and some Early Girls because I hate waiting longer than I have to.
Other than that, it depends on what's available at the local greenhouse, since I have nothing from seed this year. I usually have 10-12 plants so I have quite a few varieties, although 4 will be cherry plants.
