Yes. I have a very weird view on it. I believe everyone has that 1 person for them, their soul mate but I also believe that there is more than 1 person out there that you can be just as happy and content with. If this makes any sense.

i believe there are lots of people that you can work out with, and gerren and i just met each other at the right time and we work hard to make it work. to us it is worth making it work, so we put the effort it.

I believe in love and in fate. I don't think there is only one person for everyone. Example. You are in love and completely compatible with someone for 10 years-they die in a accident or they pack their bags and leave. 3 years after that you find somebody else that you love and are compatible with. The relationship will not be the same but you still love and care for that person and want to make it work.
I like stephs "friends can be soulmates". Because my bff and I are very close to the point where I won't talk to her in 2 weeks and I have a horrible day and she will call out of the blue because she knew I needed to talk.
This is also why I believe that there is/could be more than one person. If you did loss your SO, it would be very sad to think that there is no one else out there for you.
All of this. And mostly because it happened to me. Dated my ex for 7 years, knew we were meant to be, and then it just didn't work out. Twoish years later and I met Jeremy at a party I was going to with a friend to be her wing(wo)man.
I wasn't sure how I felt about soulmates until I met H. He's mine. We love each other so much and work so well together, I find it hard to believe there is another person out there I could work equally well with if not better. I do think I could be very happy with someone else but it would be unlikely we'd share quite as deep of a connection.
Since I grew up in a small suburb of Boston and he grew up in the middle of the Bronx, it was pretty unlikely that our paths would ever cross. But they did and now I can't imagine my life without him. To me, that's destiny.
My view is very similar to my MIL's and is more metaphysical than "yes your are my sould mate"
I believe in reincarnation and that every person in THIS life was also with you in a PREVIOUS life. I had a bestie a few years ago (we've now grown apart) where we were so close people thought we were sisters. We look nothing alike, but had some similar mannerisms, just from hanging out together all.the.time. When I had a past life reading done, the medium told me we WERE sisters in a previous life, and that is why we were so close now and mistaken for sisters in this life.
Everyone has a spiritual contract with each other and mostly they are meaningless and strangers float in and out of your life. But when you are with someone (ie DH), that means your spirits decided in a past life to be together always. Whether he was your dad, mom, brother, etc in a past life, in this one, he's your DH. You two will always be linked somehow. (sidenote: when we got married and i wrote our vows, our metaphysical minister refused to say the word forever. she didn't want our spirits to be FORCED to be bonded forever. she changed every "forever" to an "always" and I actually really preferred it)
When people in your life hurt you, you have either hurt them or there is a lesson the two of you need to work out in this lifetime. So when my snatchy boss annoys the hizell outta me, that means in a past life, I either wronged her or neither of us learned our lessons from a previous life. Yes, this is the crazy shiznit I fall for. It just makes sense to me.

I was thinking that too. I just reread this book for the third time recently. I'd forgotten how much I loved it. :-)
I have been thinking about this book a lot recently and want to reread it again for like the 3 or 4th.
