Shade loving annuals?

What are some good shade loving annuals?

I want to pot some flowers to put out on our screened in porch, which faces west, so doesn't get much sun until very late in the day.

I'm open to any suggestions.

Re: Shade loving annuals?

  • One word of caution - I love the look of New Guinea Impatiens in pots or hanging baskets.  But they take a LOT of water.  I finally gave up on them because it seemed like if I went more than a day or two without watering, they died.  I went with regular impatiens this year for our porch and they seem to be doing much better (despite my lax watering habits).

  • There's some pretty special begonias (and others) here.

  • I've been seeing those bonfire begonias EVERYWHERE!  I'm not sure if I love or hate them.  May have to buy some.
  • Pansies would probably be great for your area.
