Her final episode was today. Did anyone watch her show religiously? Any other thoughts about her? I have a few:
1. I know people who LOVE Oprah and people who can't stand her. The ones who can't stand her don't seem to have valid reasons for it.
2. I can't really call myself a fan of her talk show because I was never able to watch it - never home when it was on. I wish I had had the opportunity to watch more of her shows because I'm sure some of them - maybe even the majority of them - were really, truly inspiring and educational.
3. With all this talk about her show ending, I'm starting to become convinved that I'm actually going to miss her even though I never really watched her show except for a couple times in college and I can't say that it's had a real, significant impact on my life.
4. I hope that her OWN Network doesn't turn into a mushy bunch of trashy talk show mess.
5. I AM convinced that we may never again see someone go from such humble beginnings to such widespread influence, power and success the way she did. She is inspirational.

Nest vomit!

I am ambivalent about Oprah. Maybe a bit impressed that she has managed to make so much of herself and is a billionaire. I wish I had that drive and ambition.
The Princess of Anything is Coming!
Had a dream I was queen.
Woke up. Still queen.
I also never got to watch it much because of the time it aired. I don't hate or love her. I always wanted to go to one of her giveaway shows, that would have been cool.
I'm thinking eh, about the OWN. I've seen Say Yes to the Dress aired on there, and also a show about prison wives. Other than that nothing really interesting.
I respect what the woman has done in regards to building a massive media empire. But I can't recall ever watching her show or reading her magazine. I just don't really like her.
When I worked at a bookstore, I especially hated her show. We'd get customers in *right* after her show asking about the book that was on (but they can't remember the title). They don't always tell us what book she's promoting or when, so we don't know what was on her show 20 minutes ago. They also expected us to have a section devoted to her book club. And had trouble finding Dr. Oz books when 2 ft to their left is a huge pyramid of the book. Ok, after typing all that, I realize my resentment of her/show got worse after working in the bookstore.
I'm ambivalent about her retiring, I never watched her show. I'm glad she got a lot of people reading again through her book club.
Here's something I like: she worked her behind off and has earned a fabulous life for herself.
Here's something I don't like: She is on the cover of her magazine EVERY month. I think that's weird and lame.
I watched her show in high school and college since I was home, not religiously but if it seemed good and I was home.
Since I have been working full time, so 7 years, no not really at all. I did DVR it today but I could not tell you the last time I actually watched it.
This exactly. And I hope people keep reading, even when there's not someone spoon feeding them what to read.
