Mini-weeds are taking over mulched beds

I am dedicated to weeding our beds by hand -- I have a 2 year old and am pregnant with our second -- the thought of spraying chemicals drives me crazy.

Unfortunately, we've had about a month of rain and a couple of insanely hot days, and these minature weeds are springing up all over.  Some of it looks like grass.... the rest are these tiny sprouts... ALL OVER.  We have a lot of landscaping.  It would be really difficult with my big belly to pull each and every one.  I almost want to take a rake to it, but I don't know that would work.

Hubby wants to simply spray it.  I've tried homemade vinegar sprays that don't seem to work.  Any ideas?

  • We have them too! I just pluck them out when I have time. I hate touching the chemicals so I would just make DH do it...

That would work on most weeds if they're very small. Don't wait. Rake it! Once the root is exposed it will dry right up.
