Interviewing a Pediatrician
What questions are you suppose to ask? Also do you interview more than one? Also how do you sechdule said interview?
Re: Interviewing a Pediatrician
I didn't interview a pediatrician. Maybe it's an east coast thing but nobody I knew did this. LoL... I found out people do this after moving here.. We really went off of recs from friends / family. It's easy enough to switch if need be at such a young age.
That being said, I love our Pediatrician and he is right here in Surprise. Actually there are 3 in the office that I love. When we first came here I saw him with the boys and then for sick visits we got someone else a few times but now when I call I just specifically request him..
We didn't interview either (b/c Lucy came sooner than we expected). We went with a friend's rec, and we're pretty happy with her!
I just called the office and explained that I wanted to meet the pedi and tour their facilities. Some have you fill out new patient information packets and go over what to do once the babe is born.
Its a pretty standard request, I think...we just never made it to the appointment.
Can't wait to meet my baby boy!
We got to Desert Valley Pediatrics and see on a regular basis Dr. Serino. He is so amazing. We just saw him today actually. Another Pediatrician in that same office is Dr. Heather Gosnell. Her husband works with the practice as well but we've never seen him. The third one we really like is Dr Mishra. Those three are all MD's. If you are looking for a DO, then I have heard a lot of great things about Dr. Altamura. We saw him once just for a quick weight check when Will was really sick and he was nice, but DO's really aren't my style but he's a great man!
We just went with a rec from friends. Somewhere around 35 weeks we did go in for a meet the pediatrician visit/tour, but I knew going in to it that we would be using that office.
Recommendations are priceless! Especially if you have friends that have similar parenting styles.
Ditto....no interview, but based on recommendations. And when we moved to the east side, I just picked one. Didn't like them, so I found another one. Maybe I am in the minority here, but I dont see why people feel the need to interview a pediatrician.
we interviewed 3 pediatricians. all of which were referred to us. we also scheduled all 3 interviews on the same day to make it easier to decide which we liked the best. yesterday was our interview day lol.
i called their offices and said i was currently pregnant and want to meet with the dr. every office we called was so friendly and helpful - they all scheduled our appts within a wk as well.
we asked the questions from this sheet here and a few others we had too. also, i would suggest that you ask if you could see the rooms as well. all but one dr took us into an 'office' to meet.
We didn't interview either. I asked my OB for some recommendations. I checked out some websites picked one and we love her! We go to Camelback Pediatrics.
Thanks Jess for the info, I am going to add this to my list of options.
It looks like doing an actual interview is in the minority and it has turned out fine for all of you ladies. Maybe I will just pick one and not worry so much about fitting in an interview. It is getting more difficult to schedule things like this during the week because CJ has been so busy with work you know with working on AC's and it being 115+ out already. lol
Thank you all for your help and advice I really appreciate it.
Thats awesome, I think the office that CJ's aunt recommended is the one that is "on call" at the hospital so that might work out nicely
