XP: So I found a lump... *updated*
I already posted this on H&F but thought maybe some of you ladies might have some insight as well:
In my left breast. I found it exactly 2 weeks ago and had just started my period. When I called my OB/GYN the nurse told me that it was normal during menstruation. This was definitely the first time I had ever felt one. I was told to call back if after a week after my period ends it's still there. Well that would have been this past Friday and it's still there. I have an appointment at 3 today but am anxious. Has anyone had experience with this? Does it usually take longer than a week to go away? Any other causes of this? I'm 26, healthy, no family history.

Re: XP: So I found a lump... *updated*
I have a family history of breast cancer, but have often had lumps appear during menstruation. I've always been advised heat packs and light massaging b/c it could just be fluid build up. Sometimes it takes a day or 2 to go away and one it took a full month to disapper.
Going in to get checked is the best thing possible. It is best to rule out the most life threatening things. I wouldn't stress about it until the DR tells you their findings. Even if they as to do a biopsy, continue to think positive, they are just trying to rule everything else out.

My mom just went through this. However hers never went away. After a few rounds of testing the determined that the lump(s).....they found another........were not cancerous. She ended up having them removed 6 weeks ago because it was uncomfortable for her to wear a bra. Now she is completely healed and a-ok!!
Also, my BFF had some cysts in her right breast and they eventually went away. But that was 10 years ago and I can't remember exactly what testing she had done.
Anyway, I will be thinking of you today. I am sure it's nothing to worry about! Let us know how it goes!

My mom has something, I'm not sure what the medical name is, she just calls it lumpy boobs. But when she first developed it her Dr. was concerned, sent her for an early mamo, etc., but it turned out to be nothing, that's just the way she is. Hopefully yours is something similar and it turns out to be nothing serious. I def. think you're doing the right thing by getting it checked out right away. My t&p are with you!!
Update: Just returned from the Doctor, she said she believed it is a cyst and that she wasn't worried but that she wanted me to get an u/s just in case. I have an appointment Wed morning for that. I guess if she's not worried I shouldn't be either.
Thanks for all the kind words and support ladies, I really appreciate it!

that's great news!
That is good news! Glad the U/S is scheduled soon to fully put your mind at ease
Hoping that the u/s confirms that it is nothing more than a cyst! Please keep us updated.
Anytime you find an abnormal lump in your breast (or anywhere for that matter - I found one in my lower back once that thankfully turned out to be nothing) you should get it checked at soon as possible. 1 in 3 women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime (regardless of family history) and when caught early it has a very good prognosis. While most women develop it later in life it is not unheard of it to see a women diagnosed in her 20s and 30s. In fact, I have a friend that was diagnosed at 19 and she is now in her mid 50s and has had no recurrence.
OK I am done with my PSA
Sorry, I completely missed this! I'm glad all is well!
