What an...intense...weekend.
After hitting the carnival on Friday night (and finally getting my funnel cake!!), I embarked on a major housecleaning/laundry mission on Saturday. Finally wrapped up Sunday morning when I washed up the kitchen & bathroom floors. It's so nice to have things in their place again, though. And I'm seriously considering hiring a cleaning service since (1) it would force us to keep things picked up; and (2) I wouldn't have to worry about spending my Saturdays dusting and washing floors when I'd rather be hanging with Mr & Baby Q.
Yesterday we got to visit my parents, had dinner, played cards and then drove home in the rain. Baby slept from the carride home (6:30) til 4:30 this morning. Which gave Mr & me some badly needed quality conversation time. Not the happiest of convos but at least now we can start to move forward.
Re: Funday Monday
hey there!
Weekend was ok. was up at 5am on saturday hugging the toliet. This random "morning" sickness can stop at any time!
Did some errands with J. Other than that, we just hung out at home. I finished a quilt that I started while in grad school for MIL. With working on my MBA and then planning the wedding, etc., it took me about 3 years to finally finish it! Thank you little baby jesus that i'm done!
Happy Monday all!
I curse this week every year!!! This is the week all the teachers come back to get ready for school starting next week and they all annoye me all week long. Yes, this is part of my job but really you look before you ask where something is.
We had a pretty low key weekend. Greg worked alot so we didn't get to spend tons of time together, but at least he got some good overtime in, so yay for extra money! We didn;t go to the Ray's game yesterday because he had to work and apparently Johnny Damon hit a grand slam into our seats, the one Sunday game we don't go!
I did a deep clean and reorg this weekend too. I bought various sizes of plastic baskets from Le Dollar Store on Friday and organized both of my freezers and underneath both bathroom sinks using them. It worked very well, I recommend it.
I must get to bed earlier during the week. Like 10. Seriously. By the time the weekend comes, the lack of sleep combined with increased exercise makes me tired down into my bones.
What else this weekend...saw both of my brothers and both sets of my parents, that was awesome. I ate too much junk at parties and it upset my stomach since I eat well during the week.
I got new sheets for us. Geege wore the thundershirt MFD borrowed from a friend and it didn't work. I watched Country Strong and bawled my eyes out at the end. And I used the Keurig and liked it.
And this. Well worth the three year wait!
Mary - saw the quilt on FB. Wonderful job! I want to make a quilt and even have most of the stuff but the sewing machine scares me...lol
Since I didn't get home til almost 9 on Friday (dang you nursing home with 97398743 evals on a Friday), I decided to go to my parents Saturday morning. Crazy busy day with my nephews first birthday party and my sister's birthday day that day too.
Sunday was church with the fam and then went to get lil man's pictures made but the photog never showed. Super pissed and she definitely lost my business and future recommendations. Communication is KEY with your own business. Back to the parentals and me and mama went through just about all of the pictures in the house trying to find pictures of her throughout the years. (We're throwing her a big 50th birthday party in Oct and I want to make a scrapbook with a picture(s) from every year of her life.) After that we headed back home.
We are in a rut like none other. I hate this. I know a lot of it is stress from money and work (and lack of work for J) but something has to give. I can't keep this up.
Thanks ladies!!! My grandma taught me when I was about 9. One of the best memories I have with her. (Of course then I was only doing really small lap blankets and strictly plain squares.)
Jealous. I cleaned the kitchen, that's about as far as I got. I DID convince J that we should use the other spare room we have versus the one we originally were thinking. My thoughts are, 1.) it's in the back of the house which means less noise. 2.) it's smaller and has less stuff in it which means, less for me to move out and find a new "home" for. #2 was the key factor in my decision making process. :-)
Organizing can either be fun or a pain in the butt, but it usually pays off in the end. :-) Good Job!
A pretty uneventful weekend. Watched a lot of DVR stuff and snuggled with Jeff. AND got to watch the 'Food Network Star' winner's show, and printed out a yummy-looking recipe to try this week! We went to Jeff's lab for a bit yesterday and wound up getting caught in a torrential downpour - weather.com said we had a couple of hours, but it's all lies! As we were waiting for a break in the storm before trying to run back to our car, the freaking fire alarm went off in the building. Normally I would ignore it, but there were some extremely close lightning strikes, so we headed out in the rain and got soaked. Of course it cleared up soon after that, and we had an hour's respite. Figures!
We head off to Seattle on Thursday, then Portland for my mom's wedding after that. I'm getting excited, and mentally packing my bags. I'm still torn on what to wear - I ordered a dress from J. Crew but it gapes open in the back, so I'm debating whether or not to just fix it with a safety pin and cover that up with a shrug, or wear something else. Part of me feels like I should wear the damn thing since I bought it for this wedding, but it seems like a pain to try to 'alter' it temporarily and be stuck wearing a shrug even if it gets too warm. We made reservations at a really nice restaurant in Seattle, so I'm picking accessories (shrug, shoes, jewelry) that will work for both occasions.
holy hell.
stephanie, i am feeling the wrath of my food decisions yesterday (please see blog)...i am sipping my green monster smoothie and cannot fathom eating or drinking anything junky or rich ever again.
for the rest of my emotions, feelings, thoughts, please see the blog, too tired to type it all out twice.
f*ck you, week before vacation.

My family came up on Sat and it was actually not too bad. I realized that my mother is a HUGE b!tch to everyone, not just me. My brother is going away to college this week and she's nagging him like CRAZY, like it is seriously off the wall. I don't remember her being like that when I started college. AND my dad recently lost a HUGE amount of weight. Like nearly 100 lbs. He's 6'4" and weighs 170lbs. He eats properly, even indulges on occasion (like on Saturday) and he's taken up running. But all my mother does is bug him because she thinks he's too thin. "Oh you're going to have coffee without sweet and low?" "Oh look! A beer! Do you even remember what that tastes like?" Seriously, eff off. He looks great, his doctor says he's perfectly healthy, leave him alone!
Now speaking of running, I have a couple of questions for you ladies who run. Maybe I'll start a new post . . .
The Princess of Anything is Coming!
Had a dream I was queen.
Woke up. Still queen.
Just keep repeating "I'm going on vacation. I'm going on vacation."
23 days until my vacation. Shauni, the week before vacation makes me mental. Godspeed. I will check out your blog in the p.m. when I throw a post up on mine.
I'm happy to be back on the good eating train today.
Ditto all this! I keep seeing pretty quilts and thinking I want to try - but I get bored with projects easily. I'd consider it a win if I could piece a top, but then I'd have to find someone to quilt it. I started working on a faux chenille baby blanket - hopefully I'll have it done soon....
Oh oh speaking of food, and bad food decisions:
Trader Joe's is rocking my socks lately. They have a honey goat gouda that is INSANELY good. Also their frozen mac 'n cheese is pretty awesome, but what I really fell in love with was the South African Smoke blend that they put on it for sampling - holy amazeballs. Seriously, I am going to be putting that stuff on everything now - it's a blend of paprika, garlic, sea salt, and...something else, and it is SO good. A nice smoky, slightly spicy flavor. YUM.
Morning Ladies!!!
Just back from vacation, Alaska was amazing, but we should have went for 2 weeks not just one, I'm already planning the next vacation :-)
Laura - where in Seattle are you going for dinner? We stayed in Seattle for a night after the cruise and we ate at a truly amazing local restaurant that does all farm to table, oh my god it was so good!!
What's going on here lately? It looks like I missed out on some good stuff last week! We now have a secret board?! Details please.......
Holy crap I am so depressed now. I was about to watch True Blood while doing some work, and I no longer have access

A friend of mine gave me her login info, and I guess she canceled her HBO subscription. It's weird that she didn't mention it, but I'm not going to say anything since it was really nice of her to let me use it in the first place. But....boooooooo. Now I have to find an illegal site somewhere!

Morning! Had a crazy busy weekend, and now I'm exhausted...but that's mostly from getting home at 11 last night.
We cleaned out the nursery and moved the furniture from there to the new guest room/old office. Hung curtains in the nursery. I tried to mow the lawn and found I can't do it anymore, but found a guy on CL who came out Sunday morning and not only is his price awesome, but he mowed the lawn that day. It looks 100x better than I can do it!
Last night we volunteered for the silent auction (which my mom was in charge of) for the homeless shelter I used to volunteer for/be on the board for. It went swimmingly, thanks to H's mad Excel skills - he organized the list of the winning bidders and lot numbers in no time. AND I won the raffle for this awesome restaurant, a $200 gift certificate. Well worth the $20 in raffle tickets!
This weekend was spent working, grocery shopping, and doing laundry. Our washer is still not working, hoping to have a guy here early this week, so we had to go to the ILs Saturday night to use their washer and dryer.
This week I am planning a deep clean of our first level, minus the bedrooms. Reorganizing the kitchen, and it staying that way, has really made me want to get the rest of the house beautifully organized. Also doing a lot of cooking and baking this week for the cookbook I am making for a friend.
Steph - did you do the containers in the freezer? I saw this (http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aMvVhxhoKAg/Tk6TGZ8AbdI/AAAAAAAAMQk/-izIo8LHEMY/s1600/550_101441818.jpg) yesterday and now I have added that to my to do list.
Oh Shauni where do I start?! It was amazing, Alaska is beautiful, we loved Seattle, we ate enormous crab legs...
Our ports were Ketchikan (such a cute town, we did a hike and wandered around town all day) pretty nice weather; Juneau a total washout our helicopter/glacier trekk got cancelled, but that's ok we are already planning our return trip; Skagway we rented a car and drove through the Yukon up to Emerald lake omygod that was an amazing drive; and Victoria B.C. which was a beautiful town full of gorgeous flowers and pretty buildings.
I loved the ship we were on, we sail with Celebrity and it's a very consistent product, and one of the highlights we were on the ship's bridge with the captains of the ship and the navigation systems while we sailed through the fjords (Tracy Arm) and visited the glacier. That was amazing and we were about 3 feet away from the naturalist onboard and the navigational equipment so we could see the underwater ice burgs, so cool.
Wildlife sightings were numerous although I really wanted to see bears and a moose but we saw seals, humpback whales (swimming right along side our ship), orca, eagles, and lots of other birds.
Amazing, we are going back during the 2014 summer season and I can't wait!!
I love containers and would love to do that. HOWEVER, 1.) J would have it messed up in .025 seconds. 2.) we have a side by side so the freezer side is fairly small. I try and designate each drawer to "categories" kinda like containers. But again, see my #1.
Mary - I have a side by side too. I put a pic of it on my blog. I put baskets in the drawers.
MFD has not buggered it up yet, which is awesome. Even if he did it would be easy to restore to order since it's baskets.
