Breast ultrasound

I'm going in for one tomorrow morning.  I'm not nervous about it.  I am peeved at the fact I can't wear deodorant/anti-pers. until it's over, though.  That's part of my post-shower routine.  It's going to feel gross to leave in this heat and go out without it on.

Re: Breast ultrasound

  • Yeah, no deodorant in this heat would not be pleasant. I guess I've never heard of a breast ultrasound before.  Is it used completely for something different than a mamogram?  Hope whatever they are checking out is just fine.

  • I'm still leaking colostrum (?) after quitting BFing a year+ ago.  My prolactin levels are normal, I've done the breast binding thing and avoided bfing babies, so we're doing the ultrasound to ensure there's no infection or duct or gland issue.  It's crazy - just the slightest bit of baby crying gives me a faux let-down feeling.

  • Oh god, that sucks!  While I was glad I BF Macy for 6 months, my breast milk kinda grossed me out.  I can't imagine having to deal with it at this point.  Hope you get it all figured out!

  • I'm sorry that you are having these "complications." I hope they find some answers. From talking with my OB previously she said the Breast Ultrasound is more for "young breasts" that have more muscle than fat. The ultrasound can better identify any issues.

I do agree that no deodorant in fl during the summer is just gross, but you gotta do what you gotta do to get through it. I would for sure have mine packed in my purse to put on before I left the office.

  • LOL, yes. I have an extra I put in my purse yesterday so I wouldn't forget it in my mad rush to leave the house tomorrow morning.  It is one of those luxuries I refuse to live without.

I don't think it's gross, I just want to quit feeling like I want to feed something.  :

I can't imagine going that long!  I also can't imagine still leaking at that point.  But I have to admit, I LOL'd a little the way you said you want to quit feeling like you want to feed SOMETHING.

Does being around babies who are breastfeeding trigger it?  I'm fascinated!

This made me laught too. I can't imagine still leaking and feeling let down for so long. I hope they figure out what's causing it.

  • It is so, so weird.  I was sure my prolactin levels would be elevated, but they aren't.  All other hormones are normal, too.  If I'm around a rooting or crying newborn, I have to hand it back to the mom.  It's insane.  Doc said to avoid them for a month, which isn't hard to do, but still weird.

I was watching a repeat of The Office a few nights ago.  It was the episode where Pam gives birth and is having difficulty breast feeding.  I had to change the channel, all of that crying baby, bfing talk made me want to bf the closest baby.

If I weren't having pain and leaking, I'd say it's all in my head.  But weeks of breast pain plus minor leaking here and there, plus that let-down feeling w/o any milk being there is just strange.

I'm not surprised, though.  I've been having my fair share of medical issues lately and this is just another topping on the sundae.
