(somewhat) bad A/S news :(

We had a surprise A/S today because I was having unexplained pain and was scheduled for Monday anyway so they just moved my appointment up.

First off, I know it could be worse.  Baby Girl looks good, all of her organs are in the right places and the right sizes.  The tech thinks she may have a club foot though :(  I'm so upset!  I want our little girl to be perfectly healthy and never have to deal with any kind of medical issue.  Now we have to go for a level II ultrasound to try to confirm or rule out an issue.  They did say it was possible it was just a bad angle or something, and the baby did have her foot pressed up against the wall of my uterus.  I'm praying it's nothing, but I'm still super scared.  I now think some of the worst words in the world might be, "Everything looks good, except..." Sad

  • So sorry. Praying that it was just a bad angle
  • I'm sorry you recieved this news today. I really hope it is just a false alarm.

Try not to stress yourself worrying too much for now. It won't help anything, and your daughter will be perfect to you no matter what. With my DD, I had to wait a full month to get in for a detailed u/s to rule out possible birth defects, and after an initial freak out, I decided I wasn't worth getting myself all upset over a possibility.

  • Sorry to hear this.  I hope all is well, but like the pp said, your baby girl will be the most amazing person to you no matter what.

How long before you can get in for the u/s?

  • No matter what possible birth defects your DD may have she will always be perfect to you. I'm sending lots of T&P your way for peace of mind prior to the Level 2 U/S.
  • I'm so sorry that you have this to worry about.  I hope that everything if ok with your baby girl.
  • I agree with the others.  I hope that it all ends up being nothing, but she will always be perfect, no matter what.  One thing I have learned through all that I have been through is that it can always be worse.  Kennedy being diagnosed with Down syndrome and a heart defect felt like the end of the world, but I quickly learned that it could have been much worse.  She is perfect, just like your little girl will be no matter what.

  • Sorry!

Remember soccer start Mia Hamm was born with club foot

  • Thanks, ladies.  I'm trying to keep myself calm and not worry until there's a definite need to.  I was able to get the Level II scheduled for next Friday morning, so thankfully we won't have to wait too long.

  • ive seen quite a few club feet in l&d and usually they will resolve on their own completely after a little while, sometimes all that is needed is a splint to help straighten it out and rare is surgery a necessity. but i will be praying your next scan shows beautiful little feet and toesies and that it was just a bad angle :)
  • I'm sorry to hear that! That is the part of pregnancy that I hated - the unknown. I hope everything turns out ok and it's just a bad angle. I was so worried and upset when Zoe was dx with hip dysplasia, but it's really not the end of the world. I cried when they put the harness on, but it could've been so much worse. We count our blessings every single time we go to Shriner's. There are some pretty sick kids there!
