Moms

When did you transition your LO from crib to a big girl/boy bed? H's childhood bed (custom made, family heirloom, etc) is at MIL's and she really wants it out of her house. But I am not sure when we should start trying to get Bean to sleep in a regular bed. Ideas?

Re: Moms

  • DD is 2 years, almost 2 months and that *** is still sleeping in her crib.  It's going to stay that way until she figures out how to climb out, or she truly outgrows it.

  • Quinn slept in his crib until after his 3rd birthday.  He never climbed out and my only real reason for putting him in a toddler bed (which is just his crib with the front taken off) is for potty accessibility.

This is where I'm at for DS.  He won't be two until November, but I plan to keep him in the crib until he started trying to pole-vault out.  DD slept in her crib until she was 2 years and 8 months.  She probably could have stayed in longer, but it was Christmas and we decided to get her a big girl bed as a gift.

  • DS figured out how to climb out of the crib early, so we converted it to a toddler bed then (I can't remember what age though). A little after two, we switched him to his first big boy bed, which was a full size. He did great with the transition.

  • Isaiah had just turned 2 when we transitioned him.  He managed to climb out of the crib ONCE and that was it.  No more crib lol.
