Re: godparent gifts
we did the picture frames
despite my husband's family being italian, christenings are low key event in our family so it was appropriate.
but i wanted to tell you what my girlfriend did that i thought was clever. this gift would only be good for the godmother though. she bought a charm bracelet and the first charm (which she had made somehow) was the baby's finger print. so now the plan is on birthday's and holidays the baby always has something to give her godmother. i thought it was clever. she was saying that only the first charm would be baby-ish in theme, the rest are just going to be regular gemstone type charms so she would actually wear it.
what a clever idea! my dh and i both have large italian families.. we are having 90+ people so i wanted to do a little bit more since the godparents are our siblings. thanks for the idea!

We had over 90+ people and picture frames were still a hit. I figured when you do pro pictures family and godparents always give them, they can always update the frame.
Bracelet idea is very cute too. For my sister's birthday J gave her a Pandora charm of a little boy to represent him as godson.
I was looking for ideas besides picture frames. My sister is Baby H's Godmother and she LOVES Willow Tree statues. I found an ornament statue that she could hang on her Christmas tree every year. It's an angel with a baby. Here's the link: http://origin.kaboodle.com/hi/img/b/0/0/17b/f/AAAAC1Y89dAAAAAAAXv2iA.jpg?v=1314086421000
I found a Godmother poem about how she is his angel here on earth (so it matched the ornament). I put it in a thick glass frame to display.
Baby H's Godfather is Jewish so I didn't want to do anything too religious. If you saw the third installment of the Meet the Parents movie, they did a play on the Godfather's name. He was the GodFocker. Well, his Godfather's last name also starts with the letter F and it was a running joke. H designed a t-shirt to make it look like the Godfather shirts but with "GodFocker" instead.
They both adored their presents.
This is the Godmother poem I had found:
Take my little hand Hold it as I grow. Teach me of his love And all that love bestows. Keep me in your prayers And your tender care. Guide me in my faith Encourage me to share. I know that I am blessed You're my gift from above. My angel here on earth Godmother you are loved.
