Quick help needed please

I am doing a presentation this afternoon for Corey's class and the topic is organization.  I am having the kids make checklists and then we are going to laminate them so they can keep them in their backpacks.

What does your child have to do either before or after school to get ready for the next day?  I went through Coreys routine in my head, but I feel like I am missing something.

Re: Quick help needed please

  • Brandon is so much younger, so for him it would be things like completely dress yourself, brush your teeth, shower, do your homework, etc - so I don't think I would be any help!

  • get dressed, brush teeth, brush hair, make bed, eat breakfast, gather books/etc for school, make sure you have homework, make lunch, feed pet, kiss mom/dad/brother goodbye,

After school - homework, help set/clear table, feed pet, clean up toys, bath, brush teeth, pj's, bed

  • Before school - brush teeth, make bed, put his b'fast dishes in the dishwasher, straighten up any toys he played with that morning.

After school - homework as applicable, brush teeth/shower, read, look at the school calendar and see if the next days anything 'special' that he needs to prep for (like today was football jersey day), straighten up any toys he took out, feed the dogs, let the dogs out, clean his plates/glasses  from dinner/dessert...

  • Oh and his new job, as of like a week ago, is to take out the garbage either before school or after, depending on how full the can is. And if it's a garbage day, he has to help pull the cans up the driveway when we get home.

  • These aren't specifically applicable to A since obviously he doesn't do as much of his own packing but it's what we go through in the evenings to try to keep things less crazy in the mornings in our house while trying to get us and A out the door -

Make sure our bags are packed whether it's either of our work bags or A's daycare bag - for us it's more checking that we have whatever permission slips signed, change of clothes, any supplies that daycare notes he's out of, etc. For an 8 yr old, it's probably more checking they have all homework, notebooks/folders, text books, permission slips, etc.

Pack everyone's lunches and snacks so that they are ready to grab out of the fridge in the am

pick out the next day's clothes, socks, shoes.
