Do you buy stuff from TV?

I was watching the Cindy Crawford informercial for her skin line, Meaningful Beauty...I kind of want to order it and see if my skin stays as fresh as that melon!  I will admit that I get SUCKED IN to these infomercials...I have Proactiv, the Ronco Rotisserie, GyroBowl, Flex Seal and huge cupcake pan thing...

Am I the only one?

Re: Do you buy stuff from TV?

  • I really want a Lint Lizard.  It looks awesome.  Ive never actually bought anything but I also get sucked in.
  • no, but i remember being a kid laying in bed with my great grandma (she lived with us towards the end) and she used to order so much crap. lol! the expandable storage containers (think accordian), and all these random things. meanwhile she was bed bound- she wasn't the one dealing with the storage problems in the pantry.

My daughter, on the otherhand, i think she may be old Selma reincarnated because she recites commercials back to me. She's insistent that i get pajama jeans so they won't leave "unsightly lines on my hiney". Don't even get me started on the Gyro bowl. She wants one SO f'n bad, i might actually get it for her birthday.

  • I don't necessarily order from TV- but most times I will try things or my mom will from a store-

We have the gyro bowl and it works for Kieran but not great for Mikey yet, lol!

    OMG!! Me too!!!

  • I have not in a very long time but My Mom and I used too all the time. We got sucked into infomercials while we were in Fl. for my Aunts Funeral back in the early 80's My Uncle and my Dad were not night people and they went to bed so we stayed up and watched TV. We found a new channel at the time called HGTV and were so addicted when that went off the air the infomercials came on I still have the item I bought that night and even remember who the host was. It was the One sweep broom and the host was Anthony Sullivan. (Billy Mays---oxyclean commercial his replacment they were on Pitchmen together.) I do not have the extra money these days so I avoid watching them. The last thing I bought was about 5 years ago it was the magic bullet. The last one I watched was for the Wen hair "shampoo " system but I could not justify the price it's so expensive.

  • yes!!  i've actually tried meaningful beauty.  i really wanted to like it.  but it made my face feel/look greasy - like the product was on the surface, but not being absorbed.  in the end, i returned it.

i also tried wen.  i really wanted to like this too.  i have curly hair & it always looks frizzy.  i thought this was the answer to my prayers.  nope.  i returned that too.

the swivel sweeper, which i originally saw on an informercial i got from bb&b. this has been really great.

i really want the lint lizard too!!  by the way (to the other posters), there is an "as seen on tv" store in freehold mall - i called about the lint lizard & they said once it is on the market for 3 months, then they will get it in their store.

  • Brown & Serve microwave bags, Eurosealer, Vidalia Chop Wizard, Ab Roller, etc...
  • I've bought Proactiv and Bare Essentials from a TV infomercial. Also, years ago I bought these relationship tapes from another infomercial that this woman was hawking. Yeah...I was around 25, in a bad relationship, it was 3AM. Not a good scene. They were, like, over $200 and I ended up never listening to them at all and eventually throwing them away or something.

The things you do when you're young and stupid.

How could I forget my Ab Roller!! I used it a few times and then left it in our apartment on purpose when my BFF and I moved out.

  • Oh my mom bought your baby can read for Ethan. While I wouldn't say he can read, he does know all the words on the flash cards and can pick them out in other places besides on the card. If nothing else it's a fun party trick.

I also bought the Ped Egg. I'd buy the brown & crisp bags again if I wasn't on Jenny Craig. Those were awesome for reheating meat. I always bring half my dinner home from a restaurant. But there was never a good way to reheat chicken/beef so those bags were awesome.

The Eurosealer was the only thing I've bought that really sucked. I would buy that brownie pan but I haven't baked in years. I'm sure I bought other stuff. I wouldn't buy skincare stuff from tv only because I feel that market is so saturated and you can get the same quality in CVS or at a makeup counter.

Im sure I've bought others...I always check the As Seen On TV section in CVS. I always wanted to try that faux leather stuff- the chair rips, you paint it on and the rip is gone. They used to have a whole ASOTV store in Palisades Mall but I think it's gone now. They have a website you can buy all the stuff on.

  • Citi Kitty was my big see on TV fail. We tried to potty train the cats... Worked for a few weeks and then they discussed and revolted. Once there was poop on the floor, we gave up. Lol

I'm pretty sure BB&B has a section too (at least certain stores).  My MIL is always good for a few ASOTV stocking stuffers :)

The only thing I ever bought was an engagement gift for a close friend and it was his request - a "set it and forget it" rotisserie.
