Mystic, CT recommendations
Looks like that will be the "big" vacation this year. We are doing home renovations so that will take precedent. We want to do aquarium and seaport. Any recommendations on hotels? We are planning late April for about 4 days

We stayed here. We liked it. The only thing that was kinda stinky was the continental breakfast offerings were pretty much wiped out by the time we got our act together and got downstairs. Didn't matter to us much because we ate breakfast out - a Friendly's I think.
We actually walked to Seaport and Aquarium from here. Cute little shopping village was in walking distance as well.

Hi--I recommend the place above. We went there for two days with our in-laws, with our then-almost three year old, and we really liked it. We rented the little two bedroom cottage as it had a small porch and kitchenette and living room. It was really affordable (even in early summer), close driving distance to everything, and was really "homey," which was nice because we were able to stay in there with our in-laws and visit while our daugher napped, etc. The owners were really, really friendly, there's a great little gourmet shop across the street where you can get breakfast and lunch and good coffee (though the inn served continental breakfast, too), and the inn has an indoor pool and small gym. It was a nice change from the chain hotel experience (especially since you're thinking four days). Have a great time--I loved Mystic, especially as it's manageable but still nice.
I highly recommend here.

We did Mystic a couple of years ago and it was a really fun vacation!
We actually did NOT stay in Mystic, we stayed in a town that was about 15 minutes outside of Mystic and about 5 minutes from Foxwoods (about 10 or 15 from Mohegan Sun). http://www.bellissimogrande.com The hotel was reasonably priced and super cute with easy access to Mystic. The hotel has mixed reviews so I was hesitant, but I'm glad I stayed there because we had a really good experience. The walls were really thin though. We went in for one day to spend at the seaport, and went on another day to check out the downtown area and eat at Mystic Pizza.
OH and I don't know if your kids are into dinosaurs, but there is this AWESOME dinosaur park you may want to check out.
