New Puppy...Need Advice :) (PIP ADDED)

over the weekend, i adopted a mastiff/hound mix from the SPCA. She is approx 10 weeks old, and of course, very active. Im taking her to the vet this week, but so far the only issue, and its not really an "issue" per say, just more of an annoyance, is that she bites...a lot! i know its normal, but she is constantly chewing at my pants legs and my ankles when i walk, and im constantly tripping on her. Ive tried giving her chew toys, but she has more interest in me than the toys. Is there anything i can do to get her to stop biting me, or is there something similiar to a rawhide i can give her to occupy her, or help with her biting/teething

Focus on redirecting her attention. You can distract her when she first starts biting you with a loud clap and "NO!", then have a super yummy treat or chew toy ready. I suggest a Nylabone to keep her occupied, the one we bought for Miko at 10 weeks lasted well over a year.
If she's biting you and it hurts, she needs to learn bite inhibition. If she bites you, immediately yelp loudly and turn your back to her and walk away. Ignore her for a few minutes, and she will learn that biting hard=no play time.

haha - really - I agree with what the PP's have said. I would try to find a chew toy that smells/tastes good, one you'll be able to distract her with when you say no. It might take awhile to find the "right" chew toy. For example - our dogs don't like the nylabone. At all. We've bought one and it's sat untouched for a year. They love anything flavored - and messy. If it's a messy treat they're all for it.
And she is ADORABLE!

Your main goal should be to tire that puppy out! Lots of walks and running around. And when she's indoors and trying to bite at you, redirect. Keep redirecting her to "acceptable" toys and eventually she will get it.
Firstly, she's just adorable :-)
When our little boy was a puppy, we used to squeel really loud at him when he bit us. It gives them a little shock and stops them from what they're doing, I've read that's how their litter mates react if they bite too hard, and our little guy responded really well to it :-)
That method worked for us as well. We would sit down on the floor with our dog and when she would start to mouth us we would yelp and get up and walk away - don't look at her, don't talk to her! After a minute or so come back and start the whole process over. Eventually she'll catch on.

Their little faces are priceless when you yelp at them, they get a little fright and look at you as if to say, what was that LOL! We were really impressed how well this method worked, even if we felt a bit silly doing it sometimes :-)
thanks for all of the advice ladies. i have tried the "yelp" method and it doesnt seem to phase her, so i have been saying a firm "NO" and pointing my finger at her, and she releases.
also, we named her Sadie
