I had a wordle of our wedding vows that I rashly had a custom mat cut for in pink. (It's actually a much more sedate pink than it looks in the pic, but still...) I was hoping I could spray paint it yellow to go with my new mostly-yellow gallery wall, but so far it's not going well. :-( I've put about five coats on and these little squiggly fibers keep showing up in pink...I guess they're just soaking up the paint. I may be off to the frame store tonight. On the bright side, the last piece of artwork is supposed to show up today, so maybe I'll have a pic tonight to show you guys of the finished wall!
ETA: Yay! The sixth or seventh coat was the charm! It took almost the whole can of spray paint, but it no longer looks like it has clown pubic hair all over it (sorry, crude, I know, but it captures my dismay at the squiggly pink fiber issue). You guys are right, I should have primed. Here it is just propped up on my shelf, I'm trying to be patient and make sure its dry before I put it back in the frame.
Re: Mat painting FAIL :-( -- Updated! Success!
It looks like hot orange in the picture. Can you hit it with some spray primer first and then try the yellow?
Cute vows idea though, I love it!
