Bumble Bee party - need food ideas

Our DD's 2nd birthday party will be a "Bee Bee Q", so that's obviously the main food (pulled pork from a local BBQ place).

I am trying to come up with other ideas that are bee themed.  Here are some thoughts I have so far, but can anyone think of anything else.  Or, does this sound good?

Chick Fil A nuggets (with honey mustard)

Fruit Salad (will include honeydew melons)

Green salad (honey mustard dressing, along with other options)

Corn dogs for the kids (found a cute tutorial to make them look like bees using food coloring and nacho chips as wings)

We will, of course, have a birthday cake for dessert and I also ordered bee shaped cake pops for favors.   Do you think that sounds like enough for dessert?

Any other ideas?  Changes I should make?

TIA!

  • I was thinking that you could do a tray of black and yellow finger foods. Like black olives, cheeses, Oreos (they might be about to make them with the yellow frosting for spring if they haven't already), yellow peppers, etc.

  • There really aren't any apps/snacks or sides for the meal. I would add in a veggie tray with some dip, chips, potato and/or pasta salad, etc.

    I agree.

Don't worry about making each item fit your theme. People would much rather have a balanced menu. If you call it a "Bee Bee Q", I think serving foods you'd generally have at a barbecue (like the bbq, salads, chips, and veggie tray) would work fine.

  • I'd skip the nuggets unless there is some real reason to have them and while the corndogs may be cute looking how will the taste?

Like pps said I'd add some items that will round out the meal- a starchy side, some chips/pretzles/etc.

  • Thanks for the suggestions, please keep them coming!

I should have noted that I planned to have chips, forgot to mention that.

I was also thinking of a veggie pizza, as I am a vegetarian.   I am sure others would eat it, but it would mostly be for my benefit Stick out tongue
