No way! I went to school with a girl who had an unhealthy obsession with the tanning salon.  She was so dark, even in the dead of winter. It just looks freaky.

However, she says that she took the girl into the room but never took her into the actual tanning bed. She was waiting for her mom in the chair.

Not that it makes it any better. That child needs to stay away from tanning

There must be an underlying mental health issue for a person to get that dark and stay that dark, thinking it's attractive.  Body dysmorphic disorder?  And think about her skin.  It is totally destroyed.  She'll probably die of cancer within the next 10 years.  She's raising kids who probably won't have a mom around by the time they reach high school.  It's so sad.

Agreed.  There is wanting a tan, and then there is that, which clearly doesn't fall within a normal, or healthy range.

LOL. I watched the Today Show clip.  She says something about "Of course I wouldn't take my fair skinned child into the tanning bed.  That's not normal!".  But, um, yeah- YOU look normal????

see, i was listening to the today show this morning, but never saw her on screen (the TV is in an adjacent room).  she sounded normal in her explanation (i took her with me just in the room, the teachers overheard her say she'd gone to the tanning parlor and misunderstood, she had a sunburn from playing in the yard).  and i was all "oh, well, that's a misunderstanding.  i get it."

if i'd seen her, that would've made the whole thing quite different.  of COURSE the teachers think she threw her little kid in the tanning bed.  she's clearly unhinged.

even taking her in the room w/ her is a huge no-no. even w/ the top of a bed closed, light gets out from the sides and could burn someone. not to mention eye damage if the girl wasn't wearing any eye goggles.

There has been some discussion in the news lately about how people who use tanning beds too often become addicted to them. Some study showed their brain patterns mimic those of drug users. That's probably what's wrong with her. 

At least I hope that it is. Otherwise wtf?

I saw this story on Good Morning America this morning and on tv you can tell she's got loads of bronzer on.But in her mug shot she looked 60 years old but not as brown! Nasty!!

They need to have her picture on billboards to prevent teens from tanning.

ETA- Here's her mug shot pic without all that bronzer.I'm kinda digging her lipstick.
