Vitamix... worth the investment?
I'm not sure why, but I really, REALLY want to purchase the new Vitamix I saw at WS today. I seems like an awesome tool. I love to cook, but I have a tiny kitchen, so I really have to make sure what ever sits on my counter "pays rent."
If you have a Vitamix, do you love it?
I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Re: Vitamix... worth the investment?
I don't have one, but I work in retail and everyone that
has one LOVES it. And their friends come in to buy
after they see it in action.
A co-worker bought one and she never stops talking about how
it is the best appliance she ever bought.
And she is appliance addicted.
That's a great question...
The one I want is the new one from WS. I want it because it is still the 64oz. capacity, but they made the container wider and shorter so it actually fits under the cabinet. (I feel like if it's not on my counter I will not use it as often as I should.) I also like the fact that it is quieter...
I should get married so SO and I can register for WS gift cards.

My mother bought a Vitamix at a garage sale for $1 in 1974 and that thing could still grind rocks. It probably gets used 3-5 times a week.
So yeah, I'd say they are well made and will last a very long time.
I have one and they are said to last for decades. The motor/power is so strong that it definitely a great investment. It does way more than smoothies and is definitely a great item if you're looking to incorporate more fruits and vegetables in your diet by way of smoothies, soups, sorbets, sauces, etc.
Vitamix's are totally worth it. If cost is a huge burden, they do sell factory refurbished ones for ~$70 cheaper. You can also get free shipping (usually $25) using a Vitamix promotion code from an online affiliate like http://rawblends.com/vitamix-blender.
They do also have a free 7 year warranty... which helps making such a giant purchase. I've never had an issue, but supposedly it's a no questions asked, very easy process and they'll replace it even if it just wears out.
Regarding the counter size, Vitamix does make a compact container now, in addition to the tall one people are most familiar with. So, you should be able to fit it under any cabinets, etc that might be in the way.
After my KitchenAid died, I decided to take the plunge based on a friend's recommendation and buy one. Very glad I did!! I use it every day to make my breakfast smoothie and the occasional frozen drink. It does sit on my counter because I use it all the time and it won't fit in any cabinets. It came with an amazing cookbook full of yummy looking recipes that I need to try.
I got lucky and was able to use a 20% off coupon at Bed Bath and Beyond on it and ended up getting $100 off the price. My friend who recommend it tried the same when he bought his and was turned down by at least 2 stores.
